Looks like the FS has decided that all roots and rocks need to be removed. Anything we can do about this?

weak. sauce.
I'm so hardcore, I'm gnarcore.
Wow. I passed those guys running this morning and figured they were just reworking the short section above the road. If they really take it all the way up to the Dog Lake Jct that will be some serious bullshit. Although, if they started monday, at the pace they are going it's going take them about 5 years to get there.
Gotta be some kind of way we can protest this.
I saw 3 guys as well on the 4th working on it a ways up from the Mill D trailhead. I seriously almost ran over Alti- he is a supervisor of sorts of the lifties at Alta and I've known him for a bit, he didn't really have much to say other than what was posted in that forum you linked to.
What a shame.
you sketchy character, you
well, I'm trying to find the people to make a complaint to...no one answers any of their phones listed on their website, and I don't know that an email will do it..this is fucking bullshit.

That totally sucks! Did they have a notice and comment period on this project?
I am not sure that they needed to, if it is considered "minor."

A quick scan did not reveal that they provided notice to the public. Witherspoon would probably know.
Can we organize to get a ton of people up there to PEACEFULLY protest in person? Can we peacefully block the trail from work being done? (I'm envisioning getting a ton of bikers to simply lay in the trail preventing them from doing work). While not the most fun way to fill my time, I think I could do that for the cause. Somehow we need to send an organized message that we desire the trail in this condition.

FYI there is a recent US Court of Appeals case from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals which says that the USFS has been using defective public notice and public comment procedures, and so any project that is about to start or has started after use of those defective procedures might be subject to a legitimate argument that the work isn't legal or properly authorized.
The decision has been made.
The checks have been written.
At this point there is nothing we can do to stop this.
Things need to be done before the work begins.
-Write letters to the forest service.
-Attend planning meetings and voice opinions.
I think doing these sorts of things will be more helpful to our cause than laying in the trails impeding the workers.
Edit:
How many people here are members of USA-ALL?

That's the Utah Shared Access Alliance.
The laws that govern ATV and Dirtbike use also govern us...
