A TGR Wiki?

So I'm bored at work, big shock.

I was looking at Freeskier's SnowPedia and thought, "man, couldn't something like that be useful for the TGR forums?" So I installed some wiki software and in about 30 minutes was up and running with a basic framework for a TGR forums-related wiki.

It's only a super basic frame work for the idea right now. Hey, I'm at work...how much time could I possible put into this endeavour? Hell, it doesn't even have a logo. Consider it "beta" right now.

So I don't know, is this something anyone else would be interested in doing/maintaining? Or is this a stupid idea? I thought that such a thing could organize some of the gobs of information located on here. It could also dweeb-filter new users. And, best of all, it would filter out useless posts from people like, say...me...that don't really contribute anything to a thread.

So I'm throwing it out there. Maybe something like this already exists and I can't find it (maybe it's called the "search" function). If I'm completely ostracized from the forum (well, no more than I already may be), I'll be OK with it, but at least I tried something constructive.

Thoughts? Ideas? Contributions? JONG?

I suggested as much in the recommended gear thread. It went over like a brick. The benefit of having a single canonical thread, e.g. the recommended gear thread, over a wiki is that the OP takes responsibility for accuracy, so at least the "official" word doesn't become a victim of editing wars.

Personally, I still think a wiki could be a good idea, but it'd be useless unless those with the information to share want to add to it.

A TGR wiki sounds great. Although I would like to see it set up more along the lines of how Mountainproject.com is organized, as opposed to Wikipedia. I love MP but it is, after all, a rock climbing wikie, and ski routes will never achieve the recognition they deserve.
