WWMB: Do i need to kill a bartender

Long story short. My wife went out with her friends. They ordered drinks at this restaurant and my wife asked to have hers remade because it tasted bad. She got a new drink and 30 minutes later she is vommitting uncontrollably. She has been home for an hour and was still dry heaving up until 15 minutes ago and now she is asleep.

She had less than 1/2 of a martini and was definately not wasted. They didn't eat and nobody else got sick.

I am thinking this bartender was pissed that a drink got returned and did something. Why else would she be fine one minute and sick as hell the next.

What would you be thinking? Either way, this place is going to get a visit tomorrow.

Maybe there was something wrong in first drink? I have been working as bartender quite a lot and don't get pissed of if some one returns a drink. you can always taste it with straw and see if there's something wrong. Although the bartender might have been just an asshole.

It went one of two ways.

She got wasted with her friends and is playing sober really well.

He slipped her something in her drink that would make her sick...I dont know what one would do to make someone throw up without them noticing, but she may have gotten it.

it just seems odd that she wold be perfectly fine one minute and then violently ill the next

Did she eat any weird tasting or possibly turned food that day or night?

Disclaimer: if it was a fruity drink it certainly could have been the first cocktail. Food poisoning happens, but it usually needs a bit to kick in.

Its probably nothing to do with him, but I'd kill the bartender just to be safe.

    ^^^^ fucking hilarious!

I don't think a tender would do that. We would always just give em a ton of liquor in the next drink to shut them up.It could have been the juice or something she ate. OR as stated before, Congrats, you are a daddy!

Ive sent a few drinks back because the glass was cleaned, but not rinsed, so it reeked of dish detergent mixed with beer. That actually happens kindof frequently, and may have been why the first drink tasted off.

Like...moldy fruity berries? It's that or he made her an ipecac martini. If I was a bartender I'd definitely keep some under the bar, next to my sawed-off 12 ga.

You may want to ask the BT if he applied some Visine to the drink. It's quite common knowledge in the business that Visine can make someone sick as a dog.
    clicky
For a food professional to do this is despicable.

Am I the only one that has noticed things taste horribly wrong immediately before the stomach flu strikes? It's been awhile, but I remember it happening at least twice. Like when a bite of food tastes horrible, so you quit eating, and 20 minutes later you are worshipping the porcelain idol?

The only time I have ever returned a drink was at Whiskey Blue in NYC. I asked for a sidecar that was retarded sweet and weak. I brought it back to one of the ultra hot / ultra bitchy bartenders there and when I asked for another drink made stronger, she replied: "If you wanted something stronger, you should have ordered it straight." Cunt - sidecars aren't made with sour mix you fool.

As for the situation here at hand, I wouldn't suspect the bartender did anything to the drink.

Just what I was going to say. I know of a few bartenders that keep visine around just for that reason. I don't condone their actions, but I know it's been done to a few ass hat tourists that mouthed off a few too many times.

    My vote: Kill the Bartender.

Here is the update. Apparently my wife wasn't the only one to get ill there last night. Apparently when she called to reschedule an dr. appt she had for today, she told them the story and the nurse said she had 3 other people call with the same story.

Since she's not the only one it sounds like food poisoning and/or dirty conditions:
    Bad/turned fruit or juice (unlikely)
Fruit cut on a dirty surface with chicken juice or something (possible, see if they have a cutting board dedicated to the bar or if they cut fruit in the kitchen)
Fruit stored in a dirty container (unlikely)
Dirty water in the glass washing sinks (possible)
Too much sanitizer (blue stuff) in the last, rinse sink (unlikely, but it can make you puke)
Since she didn't have any food, just a drink, that should help narrow it down.
These are just a few ideas from my time as a bartender. Visine will make you sick, but, as someone said, that's so unprofessional that it's unlikely. If it's a real outbreak the health department should be able to track it down fairly quickly.

Yah I have been given the epicac laced drink before. One minute I was fine and had only had a few beers. After a few swigs of the beer I was running to the bathroom and puked all over the sink. It does happen. I could tell this particular bartender didn't care for me. Maybe the girlfriend/wife accidently offended them or he was having a bad day.
