Plane tickets to Japan on the cheap?

I'm going to Japan Aug. 23rd until Jan. 2-3rd?. I live in Bozeman MT and need to fly into either Tokyo or Osaka.
I have looked at www.statravel, orbitz, studentuniverse. The cheapest i found was $945.
Does anyone have any better ideas as where to look, deals for being a student, or anything helpful? Thanks

Jesus Christ, you are kidding, that is fucking CHEAP!!!!
    BOOK IT NOW!
(You are NOT going to find cheaper, period.)

If I am wrong, excellent for you. But I HIGHLY doubt it.

    Book it. NOW.

(That is absurdly cheap, did I mention that?)

EDIT: Did I mention that that is CHEAP????

unless you have airmiles it's highly unlikely you'll find anything cheaper all in.

Of course I'm sure someone will chime in with the cheapo ticket their cousins girlfriends hairdresser found in 2001

fer fucks sake that's less than you pay for gas alone in your car.

Book in sept. Aug is the school holidays and theytake the piss out of you. I just paid 3500 bucks to fly into canada over the summer. Think that the train will cost you a few bucks so if you have to be in tokyo saving 100 bucks on the ticket flying into osaka wont help.

nagoya has a major airport as well.

I'm jealous of your find. I've never scored one for less than a grand.

I did a little poking around on Japan fairs. That's quite inexpensive. I saw one fair 6 months ahead for students that was like $890 so....

If you are willing to fly courier, check out Jupiter Air. I flew RT to Hong Kong via Japan for about $450.00, prolly a bit more now. Though, not sure if you can get off in Japan, worth asking them IMHO.

I flew there from Portland last spring for $524 round trip. Found my tickets here. A quick search showed $1500 from Bozeman. Coming back in early Jan is going to cost you a lot more. Good luck.

lemme guess, you flew a special on Northworst?

You can often find cheaper fares from gateways, but getting from Bozeman to that gateway will eat up any savings.

There isnt really a good american airline company when you compare them to Cathay, Singapore, ANA for service during the flight.
