    Steve-O,

U might wanna check your math. Was it a 60m rope (i.e. 196 ft) or a 180 foot rope (55 m)?? And all this from a supposed "climber".

You wouldn't want to deny your "idol" another 20 feet of air now would ya??

NO HELMET?? And he's getting married? That's really cool to his soon-to-be widow... What's he gonna do when he has kids? BASEjump without a 'chute?

I don't care how strong your faith is, that's just fucking STUPID.

Well, yeah, that's the natural progression for people that don't wear helmets when skiing.

    what´s the point?

He wears the armored jacket, but no helmet. Why even wear the armor? It´s not like a cm of foam and a plastic sheet or a helmet will save your ass when you huck that large and screw up.
The only upside to a helmet in that situation is that your goggles will probably still be attached to your head, which will be contained in all of its smashed glory inside a shattered bowl of foam. Same for the armor... might as well wear a gore tex one piece as it will keep all the pieces from oozing away.

And if you´re going to drop something that is so huge but not even vertical, shouldn´t you make absolutely sure you are going to clear it?

Even he said it was the dumbest thing he had ever done.

When you push the boundries of what you can do, eventually someone will find "the limit". Jamie will find it, but that's what he does. He takes those risks and that's why he is famous and respected. The no helmet thing is kind of careless though.

Hey Xover; I'm just passing along some info - I'm not sure which size rope it was; mind you, the info was coming from skiers, not climbers...

(And yes, I climb, but sport only, and I still won't lead - I'm still freaked after that 30+ foot lead fall I took in BCC 2 years ago, and I'm not too proud to admit that climbing honestly scares the *hit out of me)

Oh, and FYI, Jamie's not my "idol" - in fact, the less my skiing looks like his, the better. I prefer to stay within a few feet from the ground. He is someone I count as a friend, and I think I can add a bit to the discussion here based on that.

In reality, I think we all know my "idol" is phUnk...

Those pics are unreal. I can not even phathom how someone can pull something like that off and not be injured.

Someone mentioned something about having to hip check or backslap a landing huge landings. And, not that I have ever done anything more than 30 ft., but either hip checking or backslapping is the only way someone could land something super hugh like that and not either blow out discs, knees or break leg bones. The compression off something like that if you were to try to land it would be incredible.

me confused.....160 ft cliff to backslap on rocks....What am i missing? If you uncovered those rocks and you backslapped the landing how did he not go splat? or did his tails uncover the rocks and he slid in right after??

also any chance we could get a sneak peak at the footage.....pretty please?
