Got out around 6:30am, gorgeous day...

3 hours later, finally get this guy

bringing it on the jetty i did this...

...aaaand that ended the day. fuck St. Croix. It's not a big fish...I've had a smaller Cabela's rod hoist much bigger fish no problem. First and last St. Croix I ever buy, and they will hear about it...

Way to get out. Don't bag St. Croix too much, I'm sure it was a defect and they'll replace it for free (Unless you got it second hand of course. If so, a little sweet talkin' may get you a new one regardless.)

Got it though cabela's. Called them up and they will replace it.

It was a 7'6" heavy, fast action, but in retrospect the fast action with heavier weight = too much pressure in the spot it broke. I'm replacing it with a medium heavy with the hope it will distribute the flex a bit more evenly.

just remember next time july 23 rolls around not to do whatever it was you did to break the rod.

7-23-07 will be July 23, 2007. it is currently June. Therefore, from your thread title, i was assuming you had visited the future and were posting about it.
