I'm a total TGR newbie, and have never been to mammoth or a maggot summit before, BUT I'd gladly help yogachick and anyone else organize a mammoth summit (full or mini). I'm sure there are things that could be delegated to a JONG like me. Although next year is busy, I'd be happy to help and hopefully attend the summit, depending on how my teaching, job interviewing, and conference schedule end up.

Montucky is definitely on my hit list, I'm up for that!

CO was the first one that I missed in three years, was bummed about that. I'll be at this one though!

I'd tend to be on the Montana bandwagon at the moment since I have relatives in that neck of the woods and I could call them up and probably get some couch space if I'm still a brokeass mofo. I would also add I don't think that airport access is the biggest issue since Interior BC looked like it went well as someone who wasn't able to make it. For me the problem last year was it being too spread out in both location and dates. Personally, I'm far away from making any choice yet but, I certainly have enjoyed mini's in the past and with summits it's seems to be about local mags stepping up when it comes to organizing.*

The fact that Bogus Basin, or any other area in the "ALMIGHTY!" Idaho is not "represented", shows that this poll is a pathetic attempt at garnering support for the lesser quality resorts located in Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming! You sir, suck!

    I vote for Bogus too.

I would vote for Tamarack but they'll probably be closed.

I volunteer for hosting/coordinating the events in MT.

Now if somebody could explain my responsibilities as host...

If it is decided to go to Montana, Big Sky or Big Mountain?

I would say Big Mountain. Ive never been to big sky, but Big Mountain is a pretty fucking sick place. Cheap lift tickets($39 adult, $30 college). Good BC skiing, good sled accessed terrain.

Whitefish is a sweet town that a maggot summit could completely own

And less then 60 miles to Canada...(Revelstoke, Banff, Lake Louise, KH, fernie)

I'd go with the Bozeman area over Whitefish/Big Mtn, if for terrain and accessibility alone. My impression of Big Mtn was their terrain is pretty tame. Also Bozeman is fairly central - Disco, Red Lodge, Targhee and Jackson are all within 3 or so hours' drive.

    Just IMO.

ummm, not that I know anything about anything, but a couple different people in this thread posted something about a group lodging place, with enough mags it could get fairly cheap per night for the per person charge.

I think one thing you could to would be to look back and find the place someone posted about being near big sky, and research that.

I also don't know if I have any services that would be valuable, I don't own a sled, can't get comped passes, don't know the BC here incredibly well, and am not super knowledgable in the BC, but I can probably find some way to contribute. If nothing else, I gots floor space.

Big Mountain will add 5-6 hours of driving for UT or CO people, compared to Bozeman. BM would be closer to Calgary and such, of course.

And while BM is absolutely a great mountain, the BS/Moonlight combo is pretty damn big. 5800 acres combined and both have over 4000 vert.

And then there's Bridger, which is O.K. I guess.

That's a lot of skiing within an hour of Bozeman.

One nice thing about BM is the overnight train out of Seattle that drops you off in Whitefish early enough on Saturday Morning to ski all day and leaves on Sunday night to get you back in Seattle in time for work.

About 200 round trip including the cheapest sleeper. Less than airfare&hotel, close enough to driving&hotel.

Big Mountain is much more suited for a Mini. But definitely not 'the' summit.

Any chance of scheduling this thing around the Bridger Gully Freeride comp? It's scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd this year.

the area deserves it though, for sure.

Who have been some previous coordinators for summits past, whom I could contact for info/advice/suggestions?

    Rusty Nails (#1, UT)
    Big E (#2, BC)
I Forget, Tyrone maybe? (#3 CA)
    Don't Bother (#4 CO)

Big E had it down, start with him. (I'd say Rusty too, but I don't think he's around much).

    Also perhaps:
