I want to hit Disco on a pow day. I was there this year after a freezing rain. MT soooo much potential but shitty weather the week I was there. I see good times for a maggot summit there. Buffalo Station? Anyone?

Pube-in-my-taco voted for MT therefore, I vote for MT.

Someone said Idaho but it's really spread out...logistically Gosey'd I'd say.

    Sorry Max.

If you are thinking Idaho, I agree that it would be pretty spread out and it would really be snow dependent.

If you are thinking the Sun Valley area, I would recommend having the summit in conjuction or around "The Ski Tour". Then at least there would be fun things to do in case it doesn't snow.

I would be willing to organize a mini-summit, around Sun Valley, if anyone is interested. I think that would work the best. Maybe a day on Baldy, a day or two touring, and a day on Soldier.

Didn't everyone agree last year that we should not do the official summit in Utah because so many people showed up for the minis there it would be like hosting 2 summits?

Well, in keeping with my maverick outlook on life, I'm here to announe the canidacy of the Vermont Summit. I'm sure a lot of you are asking "Vermont? Why Vermont? Surely you can't be serious!"

Well I am, and don't call me Shirley.

    Reasons for a VT summit:

Organization: I guaruntee us Ice Coasters will step up. Enough of us have cultivated enough contacts with the resorts around here to get us hookups.

Terrain: It's all about the trees, baby. Magic, Mad River, Jay, Stowe, Smuggs. We get powder here. We just don't like to tell anyone about it. But you guys have been showing us your stashes out west for years, we'll show you some of ours.

Location and Accomodation: Easy access from major cities. Base yourself out of Burlington and you are no longer than 90 minutes from any of the above, except Magic. Plenty of mags who would be willing to give up some couch or floor space. Lots of rental properties that could be booked for a week. It might not have the instant acess of SLC or Summit county, but it wouldn't require the summit to be a roaming minstrel show like CO was.

    And finally: SNOWSPRITE PARTY!!!!!

I can help from the Boise side too and most people flying would probably come into Boise.

The DB trail map looks kind of weak. Could you compare it somewhere else as far as terrain goes to get a sense of what it is like? (Steepness, types and spacing of tree runs)?

Nevermind, I was looking at the wintermt site that only had a front side image up.

Still, Dave, what are those runs in teh back area like?

Discovery would require driving and decentralization of the central scritinizer, all but guaranteeing a failure of the Summit.

    Vote for Montana from me.

And let's coordinate it with the Bridger Gully Freeride big-mountain competition so some of the mags who are into that kind of thing ( ) can throw down and kill two birds with one stone.

Well from what I hear, it's a great event for peeps who've never done one of these things before. And there's separate divisions for telemark, alpine, and snowboard. So everyone regardless of glisse persuasion can enter and backup the internet smack talk

FYI -- Last year it was held at the end of February...February 24 - 25 or something like that.

^^^ Yeah. and it's even at a time when the snow should be good instead of during some goofy spring break kinda thing.
Quick, someone lock it in before all the students sway the poll to thier break and then all head home or to the beach instead of going to the summit.

No super gnargnar, good steady fall line trees and small bowls in the one area. When we (the SkiNC'ers) hit it, they had had freezing rain the night before. The conditions SUCKED but it was fun (albeit a helluva lot of work) to ski on the backside. The biggest thing was we were able to take over the place, 4 cars in the parking lot besides us, I'm sure it would have been more on a good day maybe like 12. But it's a long fucking way from Anaconda to Bozeman, at least 8 beers.

Actually the phrase, "the conditions SUCKED" would pretty much sum up my MT trip. But, on a good pow day----Disco, Big Sky, Moonlight would be fucking cash money.

Would you compare some of the lines more to Vail's back bowls or BSB or something more like Snowbird's Mineral Basin or the A-Z chutes @ Big Sky?

Sometimes sequels aren't a great thing....

see rocky 4 and jaws 3.

This doesn't have to be an event that happens every year and at every place.

    Odin,

I have tremendous respect for you, but Rocky 4 is a fucking awesome movie. I hope this is but a mistake of fact and you meant to enter Rocky 5. But Rocky 4?!
