Searching for the perfect bib pant

I've been making due with craploa snowboard pants for too long and there seem to be some summer sales going on. I've done some searching and everyone seems to agree that the Minuteman bibs are solid. They look almost perfect to me, and are on sale. The only sticky issue is pockets. The aformentioned crap snowboard pants have coddled me into loving big cargo pockets. The Norrøna Lofoten seems to be the only other bib pant of the same quality that sports pockets like that. Is there anything out there that splits the difference or should I just STFU and get the Arcteryx pants?

    Also, I'm 5'11", 175 24/m (shit, wrong forum)

Size large? Large/tall? I've got pretty normal proportions, maybe slightly long legs.

Thanks for tolerating my summer ramblings.

Have them love them, the front pouch holds a surprisingly large amount of stuff.

I recently got a pair of Patagonia six chuter bibs. They are very hardcore. Prolly even more so than one might need. I friggen love em I with their warranty policy......I'll prolly never buy another bib/pant.

Yes - medium. You don't want bib pants to big or your waist will slosh around in them like a dwarf in a whore.

For all of you NOT in the Rockies - actually the best, most greatest, end all be all bib pant of all time was also made by Patagonia - the Ice Nine...the GOAT, the end all...and warm enough for anything Banff has to offer and dry enough for Baker. And no, AMH doesn't have them anymore...

OMFG - actually, they might. Leave it to AMH to stash away a couple boxes of a classic - it might be worth a call to them. Even for $399, it would be well worth it. They fit like an Italian suit...

Medium. Minuteman bibs are great except for the edge gaurds, which last about 3 months tops.

If you're willing to pony up and pay for the Norrona stuff... it's amazing. They're putting out a whole new line this fall.

Mine definitely have scuff guards but the 6 Chuters are definitely more burly--and heavy.

    Thumbs up Norrona

    I adore mine.

...though I haven't tried the arcteryx or patagucci models...

When I can afford to, I like this option. Where did you find them on sale? I need pants too.

I'm 6'2 180 with a 34 inch inseam. I would guess I am a large, as that's what I am in other pants, and my Alpha SV is a large.

Here. They only had mediums left in Cobalt. Luckily that's what I wanted

I can't believe I just spent $200 on a pair of pants. Ah well. Rolling around in the snow is my favorite thing in the world. Getting said snow shoved down my ass crack and having soggy pants at the end of the day is not. Hopefully these should be around for a good while

edit: Thanks for the tips everybody!

The Minuteman pants arrived. The medium is the perfect size, and it looks like basically the perfect pant. Thanks for the advice everybody! Now winter just needs to get here.

I think you need to test those pants out sooner!! You NEED to go to S. America ASAP to make absolutely sure those pants are gonna work for you!

BTW- WTF is your avatar a picture of? I keep looking at it but I can't figure it out.

I know it's a little late to mention now but the Eider Condormax II is super fuggin' bomber. Gordy gives a heads up on pro-forming pre season.

2nd on the RADNESS of Eider Condormax. I love mine. Bone dry in a downpour and bomb proof in everything else. The cuff protectors are HUDGE, no way you are gunna get a cut with skis or crampons.
