Nother good day at the russian

    Sunrise/ Sunset the night before

This guy freaking ruined the pool

I fought a fish for 45 minutes with nothing to show for it here, seriously 45 minutes it was big, real big 28-30 I'd say
Finally landed one a solid 20 inch fish which was freaking easy after fighting 4 consecutive 24+ inchers (stretched out over 2 trips) I could really use a 7 wt

My buddy john who has fly fished ~3 times in his life always seems to do well on the russian (last time we cught 10 fish in ~20 minutes) good thing he had my 8 wt

John with an average fish (19 I think) he needs to learn the holdout!

This was the last fish of the day, it jumped about 8 times and taped out at 22 inches

All fish were caught on sz. 14 PT nymphs and prince nymphs with beadheads except the last which was on a size 10 stonefly (I saw a stonfly of the same size crawl up my rod while netting the big fish)

Awesome day, doesn't get much better, 70° John's dad summited Denali today as well!

the one I lost was about 6 inches bigger than that, I fought him forever and still couldn't even think about lifting his head from the bottom he decided to run downstream

Thanks for the Russian Stoke AKPM, where were you guys fishing? Upper or lower? Are the Reds clogging the river yet?

With that kind of fishing do you think I'd tell anyone? not very many reds where we were which was key to our success, not many reds = not many salmon fishermen spooking bows (that gives you a big hint as to where we were at) I'm done with reds for a while, I caught 15,000 last year and I don't need to catch more untill each one is a $5 bill

lmao, I understand, I have a pretty good idea then of where you guys were. So you think the plunkers are the ones spooking the bows eh...NEVER would i expect some redneck from Texas lobbing 1+oz of lead at the fish would EVER spook the fish....

BTW Bow fishing on the kenai sucks giant balls in september there are just way way too many eggs for your bead to get them to move, I'd reccomend looking somewhere else like the talkeetna river drainage.
