    When to get new bindings?

I need some bindings for my Praxis powder skis next season. I was considering recycling the 2000 Solly 900 Equipes (14 din) I have on my old park skis and adding wide brakes. They seemed to be working fine earlier this season. Also, they had a 5-year hiatus of non-use, so they seem to be in reasonable condition.

Is this a bad idea? Should I just fork out for new bindings?

When they say Marker on the side?

I think you should retire those and treat yourself to some new ones. New skis, new bindings. I'll even take the old ones off your hands for you

Well, since Kevin O`Meara is skiing his Praxii mounted with 900s in comps, I wouldn't worry too much.

Ha. Those are the same bindings I put on my Prophet 100s this year. I guess that is reassuring.

Up until recently I was skiing some 997 Carbons. They where freebies from my father-in-law. I think that they were like 10 years old. They worked/work great. I recently put them on my moms teenie tiny little skis!!

I should also mention that some on this board, e.g. SuPu, apparently refuse to use something so recent as the 900 series, preferring the all-metal 997 variants instead.

I put those exact bindings on my Elizabeths last winter, but I am also a snowboarder. Just getting back into skiing.

You should be golden with those bindings. I think as a very general rule of thumb ski gear(skis, boots, or bindings) has anywhere from 100-300 days of use. Depending on the skier and how well maintained the gear is. That said, if you're really curious just go down to a ski shop and have them do a binding test to make sure they're releasing like they should. Cost $20, but then you'll know for sure.
