    Background check?

I am curious what is the best way of checking someones background. One of my fiancees niece's said something that is really inappropriate for a 7yr old to say regarding a guy that her mom is dating. It sent up some serious red flags and my fiancee wants to check this guy out.

    Any ideas?

i work for choicepoint, one of the big data brokers (not that one) and while we dont sell to the general public you can get a report of your own data. just go to http://www.choicetrust.com/ and you can order one internet report per year.

i recommend that everyone order one of these. it may show that multiple people have been using your ssn (illegals may make up an ssn for a fake card for example) or it may show incorrect information about you. it could alert you to possible identity fraud. our information is used for all sorts of non-FCRA reasons, insurance companies may make decisions about whether or not to offer coverage or may impact rates based on our reports.

i ordered one on myself and it is pretty close to everything we have on me. because of my job in IT/QA, i have pretty deep access into our databases. we do have more relationship info than the choicetrust site gives, but most of that data is pretty old or is distant degrees of relationship (roommates, possible relatives, stuff like that).

i think you can also take it further and get everything we have on you, plus records of anyone who has run searches on you but it is not an instant internet based process.

you cant really use the internet service to run the search on someone else unless you have very detailed information about them (like ssn, state it was issued in, former addresses, former roommates, stuff like that)

and im sorry, but unless you are hiring system administrators in bozeman and pay VERY well, im not going to run a search for anyone.

Anybody should be able to get any adults police record from a police station. It is public information.

Why pony up? You know what you did! It's taken years for that collie to work past your molestation of him.

yes, you can get all sorts of public records information from all sorts of public agencies. but that is why companies like choicepoint are called data aggregators, because we aggregate data from thousands of federal, state, and local agencies. one stop shopping rather than going all over the place to find the information you are looking for.

use the link i gave and try ours. i would be interested to hear if we didnt have any data on you.

(not that i would then try to gather some, just professionally curious)

and IG, that sucks! i cant believe in this day and age people are still storing data like that on unprotected machines. every laptop we have is pgp whole disk encrypted and we are still not allowed to store any PII (personally identifiable information) on them.
