Its good to hear that the Los Angeles bar owners are smart enough to take advantage of the wannabes who think they're cool for going to a certain bar or "lounge". $15 for a mixed drink/cocktail? That's like charging $150 for a steak... oh wait.

Visited LA and went to the Standard and was shocked to see $15.00 martini...at that time when the dollar wasn't as strong, it would have been around $18.00 plus tip...craziness for one little drink. I guess not a big issue if your a celeb with $$$.

I've become a fan of drink specials or just really sticking to beer. Nothing tastes better after skiing or skiing then a nice cold beer.

BTW - I used to be in the $15/drink class but this was way before I began to appreciate the dives and find friends that bartended regularly at the $15/drink places (yes, you can all touch me, too). Also, my liver can't hold what it did when I was 21 so my wallet doesn't take the beating. Been in Denver for two months now and the most I was able to spend was less than $40.
Dude, I've seen girls getting gang banged for a 15$ cosmo...

    (sorry, couldn't help it ... )

Amusing how a thread about the "world's most expensive cities" quickly turned into one about "world's most expensive drinks". The correlations or lack of correlation in some cases, has been interesting.

That does it for our social commentary of the day, back to you Bob...

New here, but luvin' it already!

Sticking to the off-topic here, I paid $15 for a drink at a club in Rome. But mind you that the bartender's view on a rum and coke is 9 parts rum to 1 part Coke...and it came in a 16 oz glass. I'm sure it's on par with most of Europe, but included with any cover charge was 1 or 2 complimentary drinks, something clubs here should adopt.

I live at one of the most expensaive cities in the wqorld (near the top before GWB took the $ on a spelunking trip) and I can get hammered or have one drink for $20 depending on where i choose to go.
anyone who tips a few & doesnt have a local where they know you by name and shake your hand when you come in doenst deserve the right to bitch about drink prices.
    alsoto,
SLC is a cheap place to live but a terrible place to drink cheap as you pay dbl for every cocktail and you dont get buy backs or "inexact" tabs
even good friends wont double click yo unless they know everyone else in the bar for their own safety.

I'm not bitching, I'm stating fact. And, good or bad, they all know me by name. Only, I don't get a handshake, I get a kiss and reallly good hug from both the male and female staff. Ask Trayc.

Yes, and I wear a striped dress shirt and designer jeans. My last after skiing beer was €3

Excuse me for pointing out there are different standards in different places.
