    Question Utards: Looking for Uinta hiking/backpacking conditions.

    thinking of doing some bp-ing this wknd maybe around christmas meadows or naturalist basin. i'm thinking it should be ok, maybe a little muddy? anybody been up recently or heard anything on trail conditions?

    I was up there 2ish weeks ago with tigerstripe40...there was still patches of snow and at the higher elevations we were skinning in. My guess(with temps the way they have been) is that you should be good.

    Weren't any yet. I would imagine they are going to be coming out though.

    Haven't talked with Flyk for a bit, but he goes up there a lot. Maybe call him?

    talked to him recently. he was up there a couple weeks ago but was camping just off the road i think. i've seen a few pics, still some snow patches higher up but i'm thinking down low (10.5k) should be mostly free of snow. maybe just a little wet (which could suck...muddy dogs in tent = )

    and yea, they're spoiled dogs so they will be in the tent

    Haven't been out there since late may but i bet the mosquitos are in full force by now

    well for any who are interested...just got back, hit up x-mas meadows to amesythe lake. hardly any snow but trail was pretty muddy in spots. bugs were out but not in full force. perfect temps. actually a little chilly last night for the dogs. all in all a good time.
