    Mt. Lassen Beta Request

Has anyone here skied Mt. Lassen recently? How is it holding up?
Would it be worth making a trip there next week?
    Thanks.

Probably not much help, but I went on the 21st of May. Here is the Lassen TR

Also not much help is this lassen video I found from the nineteenth. Play it through to the end, it's like he knows who's watching.

I think it has been going fast, but if your gonna camp at or close to the snow line and hike up, it could be very good. I just wouldn't expect to enjoy the benefits of the car shuttle. It's gonna be a long walk out to the lower parking lot.

We skied the North face on Monday June 4th, and had to walk a mile and a half and drop around 800' to make it to the Desolated Area (is that really the name of it?) Hitching back up for the car was easy. There is an ongoing thread on ttips with more recent beta too. Whatever you do- don't ask the Park Service for beta- they told us that since they had a rescue the previous week on the N side they didn't recommend skiing. Harrumph.

But the run itself was lovely- great fun- especially up higher- creamy and actually pretty smooth. As you dropped there were a lot of rocks that had rolled onto the surface from the moraines. I'd say if you are in the area it would be worth it, but hard to make a full trip from somewhere just for that.

powdork, It looks like what I need is a time machine to transport me back to when you went.
homemadesalsa, Thanks for the update. I checked out ttips too. It still looks to be doable and skiable, if not optimal. I need to decide if it is worth doing a 2-day trip with a 4 hour drive one-way when I have other options (Saddlebag, Sonora, Ebbetts, Carson Pass) that are only an hour to an hour and a half from away from home.

Carson pass was still in great shape last week. The trail to winnemucca lake is all clear and in great shape. And then it's all snow. You may even get to see some wildflowers.
