Well, it's officially summer here, and the Ahi are making their annual run. Went out with my brother on our friend's boat this past weekend and ran 35 miles to hook our first ahi. Estimated at 130 lbs.
Twenty minutes later, we take a screamer on the same lure and after an hour or so, bring a big Ahi boatside. This one is heavy, it dwarfs our other ahi, and takes all three of us to bring it over the rail. All of this on a 19' foot boat.
Took the big one to the auction block and it weighed in at 215 lbs. gilled and gutted. Is great success!
