Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

Snow on Hood has been disappearing fast. This weekend was my last ski day on Hood and am now getting into backpacking/ climbing mode because trails are opening up sooner than expected. Trails till 6000 feet are almost snow free now. Coverage is disappearing noticeably faster than last year. July 4th is almost a month out so anything can happen but we had a very warm late May/ early June so prognosis doesn't look good. I would estimate that trails are opening/ snow free about 2-3 weeks faster than normal.
Still, Timberline is a nice place to visit for kids with or without much snow so maybe roll the dice. If magic is closed, maybe your younguns can hike to paradise park just west of Timbeline. The wildflowers should start gettign beautiful by then.
I concur on the dissapearing act.
It'll be raining below 8000 feet the next couple of days. Partly cloudy and free air freezing rising into the week. I don't know if ski camp has started yet. But I'd be happy to do recon Sunday or Tuesday. Some smoovy turns would be fun.
Need a carpool/ski-bro for Tuesday.
Extreeski PM me and we can do some recon.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday look promising. I may be down for Sunday if Extreeski (or any other PDX folks) want to go.
No Monday for me. I've got an all day meeting I can't get out of.
I am without touring gear. (Delamination issues.) So will have to stick to whatever I can traverse, boot to, or access via lifts.
Sunday looks promising. Snow level not going too high, 11,000. Tuesday will be sticky and done by 11 with a snow level of 13,000.
It will be interesting to see how much has or has not melted since Memorial Day.
Need to wax up.
