dilemma on my hands - what do you think?

    i have a dilemma...

two of my friends are getting married in kauai next may...and they are renting this house for a few of the friends (limitted space, so not everyone gets in).

http://www.secretbeachhouse.com/ (check out the gallery section and "the area"....you know what im thinking about right?) haha

anyway, i got in. paid my deposit so i dont have to do anything anymore except pay the ballance and show up.

now, the dilemma is that another friend, my roommate from freshman and soph years in college, also my big brother in the frat (theyre all college frat friends btw) didnt get in. so he and his wife to be and probably my other roommate and his wife to be are looking at other options and then doing some island hopping and camping in hawaii instead of staying on one island for the full week. and they are asking me if i want to go. basically forfeiting my claim to a place at the house and having them book something else with me in mind.

now, i LOVE camping, and this would totally be way cool....but so will the house, i think. except ill be sharing a room with 3 other friends (all frat brothers). and i dont know how nice it might be to camp out in the humidity of hawaii in may. never been there. the sights will be great, but sleeping outside w/ no AC might not be. im sure ill have another chance to visit hawaii in my life, so i dont think this is like a once in a lifetime opportunity to go explore the islands....

so what do i do? i suppose since im hesitating, thats really my answer...to stay at the house and party like a champ. but i wanted to get some other points of view.

Not to be overly sarcastic but...would you rather camp it with friends A and B, or house it with frinds D, E, F, and G?

Too funny, I also went to a wedding at that house! How about having your friends camp on the grounds? That's what my wife and I did, super low key with all the amenities a short stumble away. We also camped on "Secret Beach" right below the house. There is so much to see and do on Kauai, if you only have a week, just stay put. Plenty of sweet beach and mountain camping all over the island. Need more details, just ask.

So many people come to hawaii and spend the entire week in a car and island hopping. Convince your friends to set up a tent in the yard or any one of the bizzillion sick spots on the north shore of Kauai and chill out. Bring nothing but sunglasses, one pair of board shorts, one pair of slippers, a tea shirt (opptional) and a strong liver. No need travel all around cuz, just relax on da beach for a week, you wont be disappointed. P.S. if you really want to do something sick get a boat ride along the NaPali coast, kayak or power and see if you can even get a drop off at Kalalau for a night or day. Hands down the sickest strech of coast line on earth, period.

agreed. You are going to be the definition of the 5th wheel. They will tell you no it won't be like that but it will be like that count on it. Stick to the house with the single frat bros, rent a car, explore for the week.

oooh...camping on the grounds is something i didnt even think of. ill suggest to my buddy, dont know if hed be into that or not...hes kind of funny like that. thanks sawatchsplitter.

yeah, i definitely DONT want to be the 5th wheel, and if theres plenty to keep me occupied on kauai, i realy dont have much desire to hop around. relaxation is definitely key. i can totally chill out on the beach for the whole week, noooo problem there. haha

how did all of you that stayed at the house/or near the house like it? i mean, the pictures pretty much tell me what i need to know, but TR's help. heh

thanks guys! its like a year away and i already cant wait.

Sounds like hanging at the house is what you would prefer, but that being said, I have camped in Hawaii, on the big island, and it is a great way to see the island. I prefer it to staying in one place the whole time, but that is just me. I was never into the whole frat scene, so I can't relate to that part.
