Est. Total Vertical skied and then paid back = 3800'

This is the American Way. We spend, spend, and spend on credit, then have to work for weeks, months, or years to pay back our debts for the few minutes or days of pleasure we initially derived.

Most of the time in backcountry skiing we're NOT traveling in a similar fashion. We typically start low, hike up to the top and then ski back down to our destination. We earn our turns and then reap the benefits of all that hard work.

But not at this location. At this particular location we are offered up a backcountry skier's credit card of sorts - to spend right out of the car. Here you go, here's 500-2000' of vertical to ski, take advantage, have it all, you can pay it back later, dont mind the interest rate - the extra time or suffering of hiking back up after skiing. Wow you say - thats great - just like my Visa card.

    Fresh from signing my card:

Andrei maxing out his credit limit

Mike getting the notice of credit line full.

Reality hits - we gotta pay this whole thing off + interest???

    Working for the man:

Andrei looking for some help to restructure his debt payments:

Having paid the line entirely off we go ahead and spend, spend, spend again:

Credit line is full again - time to work.

Ahhh the mania and joy of spending on credit.

    Snow sure was sweet.

You'd think we'd learn that paying off debt is painful.

One too many times through the debt cycle - small wet slide on this run.

Now we're done - no more debt for me.
