Well, I guess that answers a lot of questions about its durability. Now if someone would just run over it with a car...

Jobs should start selling records.
We're sorta like 7-Eleven. We're not always doing business, but we're always open.
Haven't read any of this thread, but sure all the points like old tech etc have been brought up along with the but its so seamless stuff for it.
Yes, it's overhyped. Will the 3rd or 4th Gen be good tho? more than likely if you want a phone/camera/mp3/radio/vid player etc all in one
Riding bikes, but not shredding pow...
wanna know why it's not being released in Japan?
my phone;
mp3 player
2 gig memory
tv
japanese/english dictionary
2 megapixel camera/video (which is small by JP standards)
Price? Free.
And that was two years ago. The only reason I haven't upgraded to a new one is because I don't need to. You can get Vista OS's and internet Explorer 7 phones for less than a hundred bucks.
the iPhone is all hype and it's being fed by the fact that the US is so far behind the rest of the world's cell technology. Lliterally decades behind.
But for some reason, I want one.
just for grins I thought I'd post this from my new iPhone. Yeah me!
good on ya!![]()
600 bucks to post on TGR from your car.
That's so hawt right now.
(I still want one... but only because it's touch screen, and not available in Japan.)
Interesting that I don't bother upgrading to a vista/ie7 phone for less than a bill, but want an iPhone.
I'm such a sucker for marketing...
I'm sure the jap market competitor will not only have a touch screen but will dispense soiled panties for you.
The only thing worse than the feeling that you are going to die is the realization that you probably won't.
........
I'm just a simple girl trying to make my way in the universe...
I come up hard, baby but now I'm cool I didn't make it, sugar playin' by the rules
If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.

If anyone has one, visit the Booksearch.app I created. Allows you to search for books by ISBN to see how much they cost at online retailers. Hopefully useful when you are at a bookstore and wondering if you can find the book cheaper online.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
It will now sync!
<sigh>Enter Synchronica ... claims to sync iPhone (as well as about any other phone) with Exchange requiring no changes to your exchange environment?? Hmm, let's investigate further...
The claim...
"Synchronize calendar, contacts and emails over the air (OTA) - secure, anywhere, anytime without extra client software"
At least it's over https.
TFA here
Yurp, this is Firewall. Firewall, this is Yurp. Yurp, you are now hang out in the Firewall with China. Kthxbye.

I kept mine....
The quick summary is that the every application built on the phone works pretty well. The major negative is that it doesn't have all the normal functions of a normal cellphone.
Here's what I have found:
Negatives -
1) No MMS - receiving or sending
2) EDGE network = pretty slow, you need to be on wi-fi to really surf the net
3) No cut and paste function
4) You have to use ITUNES to sync, add music, video (pain if you use many computers)
5) You cannot transfer contacts from the SIM card to the phone. EX. I used my unlocked "backup" RAZR to transfer all my contacts on the the new SIM but it won't register. You have to sync or add in manually.
6) The youtube function isn't normal youtube and is useless. Its better to just use the online version.
7) Battery isn't very good, you need to charge it everyday.
8) You cannot add attachments on email or on BB's like TGR.
9) You can't change the settings for the camera (quality level), no flash, no video.
10) Can't save pics emailed to you, or ones on the net to the phone.
11) Cannot use custom ringtones or bluetooth them.
Positives -
1) Super fast transfers between applications
2) SMS in the form of chat
3) POP email for my yahoo and gmail accounts
4) Video looks amazing on the screen
5) Messing with photos never gets old
6) The zoom feature for the internet is sweet. For ex, SQ99 emailing me a pic of his last WA expedition....sweet!
7) Being able to bookmark webcams on your phone through the internet
8) The screen has held up well, and the locking feature on the phone works quite well so you don't call people by accident.
*Rumor is that they are waiting for the Leopard release so that's why its missing some functions.
The touch screen blows for typing emails...
He who has the most fun wins!
Trust the dictionary in the phone. Its really pretty good at correcting input errors. I can type almost as fast as I can on the desktop keyboard if I trust the phone.
Found another negative...
You can't send texts to more than one person at a time. Shitty.
Oof.

Might be old news, but I just discovered seeqpod.com. If you access it via your iPhone, it recognizes it and gives you an iPhone interface with streaming music. Works best with a WiFi connection, but streaming music to your phone for free is pretty cool.
Boy, talk about a culture clash between AT&T and Apple. This is the problem a lot predicted. Hope a less turgid company can provide service for this thing soon.

AT&T’s Overstuffed iPhone Bills Annoy Customers
By KATIE HAFNER
When Justine Ezarik, a video blogger in Pittsburgh, saw that a box from AT&T had been delivered to her doorstep a couple of weeks ago, she thought that perhaps she had been sent a complimentary accessory for her new iPhone. Instead, she found a 300-page, double-sided, excruciatingly well itemized bill.
Ms. Ezarik, 23, made a one-minute video that shows her flipping through the voluminous bill and posted it to YouTube and other video-sharing sites on Aug. 13. The video has since been viewed more than three million times.
For the last several weeks, iPhone users have been by turns amused or enraged over the sheer heft — some are the size of small novels — of the bills they are receiving from AT&T.
Yesterday, in response to Ms. Ezarik and scores of others, AT&T’s wireless business sent text messages to all its iPhone users to let them know that it will be sending them summarized bills from now on.
