TR: Striped Bass Killing, Kayak Drifting Expedition

KMO and I just returned from Westport, MA where we partook in our first annual striped bass killing, kayak drifting expedition in the East Branch of the Westport River on Saturday. Pics are on the waterproof camera which is still in my pack.

I think that may have been the first and last annual expedition. Kayaking and fishing for stripers and getting blown around ain't easy. I reeled a 3-pounder in but KMO only had a couple bities and one that got away (not to mention a major reel malfunction).

Still, good times. We paddled around for three hours, had a few cold ones and I almost tipped over. Great day to be out fishing.

But I think it's time to invest in a small boat for this sort of thing.

The main body of the migration is now north and east of the canal.
The only thing worse than the feeling that you are going to die is the realization that you probably won't.

We should have dropped the truck at the Back Eddy and just floated with the tide out to there. Live and learn, I guess.
