The disclosure that the patient is a lawyer — and specifically a personal injury lawyer — outraged many people....Speaker’s new father-in-law, Robert C. Cooksey, is a CDC microbiologist whose specialty is TB
An Atlanta lawyer infected with a rare, often fatal form of tuberculosis said Friday he has a recording made before he flew to Europe that shows health officials told him he was not a risk to others...In an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America," Andrew Speaker, 31, said his father asked health officials whether Speaker was a risk to anyone, and health officials said he was not. "My dad taped it," he said.
The 31-year-old personal injury lawyer asked for forgiveness for sneaking on board two transatlantic flights to Europe and Montreal, even though he was aware he carried highly drug-resistant TB and was warned by U.S. health officials not to travel.
....Hiring a private jet would have cost $100,000, which he did not have, Speaker said.
"I am the father-in-law of Andrew Speaker....I'm a research microbiologist in CDC's Division of Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination....I wasn't involved in any decisions my son-in-law made regarding his travel..."

"Active management in bear markets tends to outperform. Unfortunately, investors are not as elated with relative returns when they are negative. But it does support the argument that active management adds value." -- independent fund analyst Peter Loach
