    Free Topo maps?

    Is their such a thing?

Any one have a website that will provide free, complete maps? I can't really find what I'm looking for.

If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

    Have you used it before?
A little wary of downloading a program I know nothing about.

    Any info?

    Easy to use?

Never downloaded, never used. I'm not even sure where I got the link (probably from a thread in PMag TechTalk). You're going to have to download somebody's software at some point. You can always use Google to find references to it.

I've used it, it works great. Printing sucks but for planning stuff and just looking around it's a very very neat program. I then usually end up buying the quad because I can't print on a paper as big as a quad anyways, and I like to have the surrounding summits on my map in case I get lost.

Go to your local college with a map library. Have a buddy distract the librarian on duty. "Borrow" as many maps as you like.

No, thanks; I buy mine. I was just making the comment that I hoped you either didn't do that or that the "borrowed" maps would find their way back to the library after being used. But hey, who am I to care?

    Thanks for the beta.

Program downloaded, and fumbling has commenced.

BTW, I've demo'ed thier "pro" version - lets you overlay topos right on aerial photos. Really, really cool - i.e. you can see cut ski runs really clearly, late spring corn stashes in couliors, where exactly treeline ends, etc. Way nifty, practical and easy to use!

topo and aerial. Topos not as good as topozone.com (thx for that one). Aerials are cool, but are somewhat dated.

    Go find your stapler, milton.

USA Photomaps uses terraserver except itt gives you features, zooming, and only download it once, offline access.
