Thread: The Water Appreciation Thread

I only drink my water out of a highball glass. No ice, as it ruins the flavor. No mixers either. 100% 18 year old purified water. None of that cheap crap. I like it stirred and not shaken. I also purify my water 3 times before drinking it.

Hate water? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that before. I drink a 16 oz glass every morning when I get up and probly 3-4 more per day. It washes the alcohol residue out. So that's good.

The water at my house is well water and it's fucking good. And free. So I drink it.

If you're actually interested, this site will tell you.

The short answer is the Colorado river and wells, mainly.

CAP project is almost as redundant as a PIN number
anyway...dont forget the SRP and numerous arsenic laden ground water wells...

and...it comes at a cost (and getting worse) for the valley of the sun....

and cap water is funky...but it is tough to tell if it is not from all the softeners in use

2 years ago I started skinning up Pyramid Peak (cali) with what I thought was a full camelbak bladder in my pack. Turns out my daughters had finished it off over the last several days while my pack was sitting in the car. It was a warm spring manky day and I ran out of water about 10 minutes in. We kept going thinking I could eat snow and what not. That simply doesn't work. I was miserable and barely able to make the top. When we got down I drank a bunch, but on the drive home I still had to give up the wheel cuz I thought I would puke.
I don't particularly like water, but I hate not having it.
Our water comes from the lake and it rulz.

Actually Phoenix is set for water. It's SoAz that has the issues. Not to mention the idea of CAP was to supply water to the mines and farms, so it's not quite up to the task of drinking water without a lot of changes and jerry rigging.

Funky water? From the Colorado (or just about any other river)? Hmmm. Lets see where it might have been...

Starting at the headwaters high along the divide, the snow melts in spring and summer. Lots of it percolates into the ground creating an aquafer, and over time seeps back out thru... that big hole in the ground that miner Mike left a century ago.

It gets into the stream and wanders down valley to where rancher Roberto diverts it to his field to irrigate his fields. - you know, the ones where his cattle grazed (and then fertalized) thru the fall and winter. It soaked into the ground til the water table came up and then eventually made it's way back to the river.

Wandering a lil more it gets diverted by a town, cleaned up with some goodies like floride, sent to homeowners Harry and Helen, where they bath, wash stuff in the house, crap and pee in it. Then sent back to the local municipal entity known as the sewer treatment plant, where they get the "chunks" out, clean it up with some more chemicals and send it back on it's way down the river.

Then rancher Roy gets his turn. -And lets not forget what the "rinsing" of the ground does to the salinity factor not only here but in much of the other "users" turns.

Then a bunch of rowdy rafters "play" in it.

    Then town Two...

repeat the above about ten more times before that water even gets to the Utah / Colorado state line.

Then users there in Utah do a bunch of the same thing before the water gets to a big "recreational" use area like lake Powel and / or Mead, where we add all sorts of yummie things like gasoline, oil, sunscreen, beer, post beer rental pee, beer cans and bottles, fish guts, old hot dogs, etc.

Then the Arizona users get it... and wonder why it tastes "FUNKY"...

Just think what our neighbors down in Mexico get when it's their turn...

See? Everybody appreciates water. Funky or not.

Sometimes it can be a pain in the ass, but for the most part, I like dealing with water every day 8 months of the year. After almost 15 years of it I now know more about water in the west than most.

I have the opposite problem. No water. Our well isn't giving us any of the glorious molecules. We have to have it trucked in weekly right now. You don't realize how much you love having all you the H2O you want until you have none.

I give our well a big

^^^ I understand (tho maybe not in as bad a manner). All it takes is a simple power outage, or some frozen pipes and 10-20 mins later you realize... "Shit we're outa water!"

I'm not a big fan of plain h2o either. Unless I'm really thirsty.

Used water is good, it is the source of my income.

    Google Earth 33 35'00" N 117 04' 40" W from about 5,000 ft

New ozone water treatment plant, so us Socal residents can drink the piss and runoff of Colorado people.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.
