    Camping near Dillon, MT?

Headed from Salt Lake to Missoula tomorrow after work. Thinking about camping somewhere between the Idaho/Missoula border and Dillon along I-15. Dont really need a camp ground, just a reasonable place to sleep in the back of the truck. Im not too familiar with the area, any suggestions?

Go to the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, you will not be dissapointed, it may be a little out of your way but it is well worth it.

I bet that you can just pull over of I15 and set up anywhere

The NABA (North American Brewers Awards) are going on this weekend in Idaho Falls. (I was supposed to be there tomorrow)

I think it's on your way.

Go there, buy cup, drink alot of great beer, go home with a hot cowgirl. problem solved

I've camped out in a field right near downtown, too drunk to remember where it was. Are you taking 278 to Hamilton? You should, for good scenery. I've camped off that road before in a few places. Just pick a forest road and go. The ones on the left side (Bitteroot Mountains) are a longish drive to camping, the ones on the right are closer.

One idea: Take a right at Wisdom and the first right that says 'campground' for a FS place. (IF I remember correctly). Otherwise it's wide open....just pick a spot that looks a little off the beaten path. If you make it to the top of the pass before Hamilton, park in the ski area lot (Lost Trail)and you are golden too.

Skip Red Rocks. Unless you like marshland....not that they allow you to hike anywhere near the marshland anyways. Lotsa good hiking and skiing off the roads from Dillion to Missoula anyways, no need to detour.

If you are going from Dillon to Missoula and have a bit of time, make sure you drive Hwy 278 (up the Big Hole Valley and over Lost Trail Pass). Stop in Jackson, hit the hotsprings and say hi to Jason (the owner). Check out the Brewery in Hamilton, Bitterroot Brewery.

Sparky's in Dillon is good breakfast.

There's a restaurant/bar in Wisdom that serves the 'Haystack' burger. It's something like a pound or so of beef. Can't remember the name of the place, but when 278 dead ends into 43, take a right. It should be on the left in a block or two....it's a really small town. The regular burgers are good too.

I've been in Idaho Falls quite a bit and am familiar with locals, so Im going to pass on the whole brewfest and shacking up with a local cowgirl idea but thanks. I've been up through Hamilton before, pretty area. If Im coming from Salt I assume taking I-15 to I-90 is the fastest route, right?
