    Anyone Own/Drive a Chevy Equinox?

My parents want to buy one. I'm trying to talk them out of it, but I want to hear pros and cons to this truck. Democrats driving SUVs...hypocrits.

If you don't have snow outside your door, what the fuck are you living there for?"

Rented one once. Was tremendously unimpressed. Handled like a CrissCraft in quicksand.
Damn, we're in a tight spot!

A little different but basically the same. I bought my wife a Pontiac Torrent AWD. To tell you the truth, I like it. I'm a big guy and there is lots of room and the back seat kicks ass. It moves forward and back about 8 inches (to increase the rear cargo). It's easy to drive and is really quite on the highway. Has good traction and visability, could use a little more power...
Overall, I would say its a good vehicle, but I drive a chevy 2500 duramax crew cab 4X4, way more power and room and noisier.
    Man, It was great...

Ha! They were sold on the idea that it was an American car until I told them that it is built in Canada where as a Subaru Outback (what I want them to get) is built in the US.

I can't carry my skis inside my sedan, and I've had bad experiences with roof racks.

    Thanks guys

Have you ever driven a Chevy?

    Here's an excerpt from automobilemag.com:

"At 29,040, the Chevrolet Equinox AWD LT is the most expensive in this comparison-so is it the best? In a word, no. In three words, not even close. Some might argue that the Equinox is out of place here, since its size puts it closer to the mid-size end of the spectrum; others might argue that it's not so much out of place as outclassed. We'll take the glass-half-full view: hopefully, it's going to learn a lot in this company."

It has to compete with the CRV and Rav4, which have nicer interiors, better handling, higher resale, and better reliability.... oh and they cost less than the Equinox.

they would be better off driving an outback. all of those small suv's are pretty much useless. a outback gets better mpg, as much space if not more. or a pasatt wagon are nice if they want a nicer vehicle then a subaru.

Since I have one as a work/company car, I might as well chime in. Although this car is free, is has grown on me quite a bit. I have almost close to 40k on it and there have not been any problems to speak of. The AWD system takes a little longer to "activate" than I would like, but it works OK. I did get stuck after a weekend of heavy dumping at x-tal this past winter. My model is the bare bones so I would reccommend an interior upgrade because the rear seats are like cardboard.... There you go, my .02....but (bottom line) I would never buy one with my own coin.

I certainly don't, but my mother is a politician and my father's in a union...they're not all buying things not made here. However, they haven't ruled out a VW...they're nuts

No worries , but the auto industry is so integrated that if it was assembled in US ,the parts would be made in Canada. If made in Canada its union made but by the Canadian union. Thought it might be we didn't support Iraq war thingie.

I just got handed the keys to one as a company car. Overall, I'm not impressed at all. The front windshield is set up weird....I have a horrible blind spot in front making left and right turns....that's right, a blindspot in FRONT. There is another nasty blindspot in back over both shoulders.

Furthermore, the turning radius sucks. I have never driven a car with it this bad. I've felt like Austin Powers when he's driving that cart trying to turn around in that narrow hallway.

I haven't gotten a chance to take it out in the snow just yet so I can't chime in on that aspect. The gas mileage is pretty bad also.

The only good thing is the stereo system...actually pretty nice. Thank god my company upgraded that accessory.
