    Salomon binding tech question

Okay. I've got hold of a pair of used S916s. When they arrived I noticed the plastic inserts under the tip of each right wing was snapped off way back in the wing. I have some old S900s and the parts look interchangeable.

Is this a relatively easy swap out or am I looking at some serious jiggery pokery? (I am good at taking things to bits but utterly useless at putting them back together).

Would skiing on them without the plastic bits be possible/advisable/fucking idiotic?

    Cheers

Salomon went from screwing those plastic tabs on to riveting them somewhere between the 997 and the current S916/920. The tabs are the same, but if they are riveted to your S916s, you'll have to use epoxy. You could also check with Salomon to see if they can repair them for you (there is a 5 year warranty on the S916), in case you don't want to slaughter your S900s.

I haven't skied these bindings without the tabs, but I don't think it would be a problem. I imagine you would just release marginally cleaner with the tabs in place than you would without them.
