    Tony Robbins

Yeah, the ogre-like behemoth on TV. Two of his henchment stopped into my office today to see if I wanted to coordinate a company-wide presentation. I had visions of Office Space running through my head, was cordial and then bid them well. Anyone been to one of his seminars? If these guys even try to get me to stop playing Aggressive Alpine Skier at work.....

I knew a guy who was up late one night watching TV, Robbins' infomercial comes on, guy gets into it, next day buys the motivational CD's and a plane ticket to India (heading to Goa, naturally ) - and then he was GONE!

    Just like that.

    So, watch yourself.

At a past job a new sales manager came in all hot and heavy, a Mr. smiley go-getter type of guy, but he seemed like somebody I could at least work with. Then while having a drink after work with all of our co-workers he said something corny about Tony Robbins and I thought he was joking so I laughed and he gave me a nice death glare. It turned out the guy was WAY into Tony Robbins, like up past his colin into him, and he had gone to almost every course, or whatever, the guy offers. He actually bragged that Tony would respond personally if he emailed him with a question or anything.
He eventually got a few people to go to one of his events, and the one 'normal' guy who went said the whole thing was a very cult-of-personality-type program. Needless to say, eventually I was forced to move on by this new manager, but the weird thing was he told other people in the office that he didn't like me from day one and the only things I could have done to piss him off was laugh when he mentioned Robbins, and not go to see his program.
Eventually the manager was fired, (I quit before I was canned) because "he was all show and no go" according to the people who had to work with him.
My point is that people who are really into his program seem to be a little odd, at least in my experience.
I've also heard that his 'followers' are trying to get him to run for President in 2008, but he's got some skeletons in his closet that he doesn't want exposed.

I know 2 people that attended one of his personal enhancement/motivational seminars.
It was in Maui, but I almost crapped when they told me the tuition was $8k per person.

Nice business if you can work it.

    ps:
they loved it and said it was worth every penny.

If you can afford to pay 8K for the seminar you probably won't have to drink the Kool-aid if ya promise to come back.
