Beachfront on the cape rent free?

So I graduate from college on Sunday, and have planned for the past decade of my life to spend the winter after bumming out west. Now I still plan on that, but I was just offered a place to stay in Orleans,MA, right on the beach, rent free. No strings attached. Johnny Damon could throw a ball to the water at low tide, thats how close it is.

Now the dilema, is it going to financially kill my winter ski bum season? Not sure how cost effective partying on the cape is going to be. Im hoping to landscape and be a busser at night, but thats all hope. Craigslist isnt showing much in the way of effective leads concerning employment.

Don't be such a pussy. Beach for the summer over skiing in the winter? Please.

Also, is it really that hard to find a services job on the cape over the summer? Free housing is free housing, just work 80 hours a week and you'll have plenty of money for a winter of skiing.

Summer jobs are going fast NOW.
It gets real tough come June to find summer jobs out there.
The only thing worse than the feeling that you are going to die is the realization that you probably won't.

Seriously, do it. Youll be spending just as much money getting drunk wherever you are. It doesnt cost much to sit on the beach all day drinking coronas and margaritas. Just dont wear a popped collar or pastel shirts. And it shouldnt be too hard to find a landscaper or golf course to work at. Just head down to a course asap and go to the maintenance barn and ask for the super or asst super and explain youd love to work for them. Helps if you know how to mow. Youll prob start around 11/hour so its not great money but if you get a side job as a waiter or sell your sperm, you should have plenty for the winter and to spend on trendy rich tourist girls in sundresses.

I won the lottery. should I keep the money?

ANYWHERE rent free is a score. if a college grad cant get summer work landscraping, painting houses or doing whatever; your completely helpless. use your head dummy.

Get a long board and chill on Coast Guard beach all day. Oh Life Guard? What side of town? We stay across the street from the Jail House restaurant.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

You can make a boodle of money on the cape.

I lived out there for a couple of summers and it is a great experience.

A couple of my buddies were ice cream men and made some crazy money. I have the dubious distinction of having the shortest ice cream slinging career in history. it took me three days to get a pink slip.

Plus Orleans is close to some of the best surfing in the Cape. Get a Beachcomber pass as soon as you get out there.

Bartend in Hyannis or Chatham. Work as a mate on a party boat (yeehaw!).

Walk on the beach with a cooler peddling evian, snickers and italian ice (just duck when you see the law). I did this at Jones Beach when I was in graduate school and made $300-$500/day on sunny weekend days. FKNA...killer tan, too!!!

    Do it, no questions asked.

I lived in Orleans for a summer.. it was sweet.

Questions- What job are you getting that they are hooking you w/ free housing?-

If you do it right, you can save a TON of cash-- the economics out there are like few other places- especially in the summer.

I miss fishing out of rock harbor. bad.

If you don't do it I'm going to be pissed at you.

EDIT- my buddie might need help for a roofing laborer. You'll get $$$, but work so hard. PM

Definitely try that roofing idea above- just make sure to get a job working outside. Youll make some bank doing roofing too.

do not work in Hyannis if you live in Orleans.

work in Chatham, Brewster, or Harwich if you can.

PM sent. Id love to have the job and you can chill on the beach with us anytime either way.

The more I think about it the more I get excited about it. I feel its just one of those times to just do it and figure it out as it goes. Couch on the beach extended to those in need as well.

You will have a blast, my grandparents have a house on John's Pond in Mashpee and it is always a great time. There is something about the Cape that draws you in. Have fun save money and we will see you out west next winter.

The 'Comber would be good. "Parking Lot Attendant" sounds like a good chance to get stoned and hang around bullshitting, I'd go for that.
