Canon SD 800IS vs. SD 900

I previously owned the Canon SD 900 until I went to Jazzfest in New Orleans and got blacked out drunk and lost the damn thing somewhere on Bourbon St. I need to buy a new camera and I was wondering if anyone new how the SD 800IS compared. Any help is appreciated.

IS is Image Stabilization. Don't know what that translates too in terms of functionality.

Get the new 850 that's coming out in mid-June. 8 Megapixels and a slightly longer telephoto than the the other 2.

Otherwise, listen to bossass and check out the review of the 800 and 900 on dpreview. It's a great site.

I'd go for the IS, but that's just me speaking from experience.

No experience with the 900, but I have the IXUS 850is which is the Hong Kong version of the 800is. So far it's a great little camera but I'd prefer to know when the digi zoom kicks in so I can avoid it, or be able to turn it off altogether (both may be possible but I'll have to dive into the manual to find out).
I also don't like the battery and USB covers; they seem a bit flimsy when open and I would rather just plug the cord directly into the camera to charge it a la my Fuji F700 than open it up, take the battery out, and put it in a charger.
Putting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.

I think you can disable digital zoom on all Elph series camears, I have an older SD500 (7.1mp, 3X optical) that I bought 18 months ago and immediately turned off digital zoom, now I forget where, but you can do it (mine only zooms to the optical range then stops).
