thanks lph! (geez. they really ARE slackers, aren't they?)

    better raise Shane better!

I'm moving in to help raise the puppy. I think you need an extra set of hands - he looks burly.

Duke or 'El Duke-o' -- you know he's gonna leave some piles around the house in the near future.

PBR or PEEBER would be a good one. Especially if you teach the dog to fetch them.

Never, ever tell your family your getting a dog or having a child. Because then the name will already be decided by them.

Or has it been, and I'm just clueless as usual?

    That said, I like Shane.

I think the Amazon book description sums it up best (hey cut me some slack, I haven't read the thing in probably 20 years ):
"A stranger rode out of the heart of the great glowing West, into the small Wyoming valley in the summer of 1889. It was Shane, who appeared on the horizon and became a friend and guardian to the Starrett family at a time when homesteaders and cattle rangers battled for territory and survival."

And of course there's the ski connection too...

    Other than that:
    Nobis - sounds regal almost
Faceshot - or Face for short, then after he rolls over on command you can say "I love it when a plan comes together."
Snowjob - Yo Joe! (Yes, I'm an idiot so I'll keep going...)
    Chopper - "Sick balls!"
    Crippler - Simpson's nod...speaking of which...

Smithers: People like dogs, Mr. Burns.
Burns: Nonsense. Dogs are idiots! Think about it, Smithers. If I came into your house and started sniffing at your crotch and slobbering all over your face, what would you say?
Smithers: ... If <you> did it, sir?

    how about...

    Stoke.

Though, I do think that Shane has a nice ring to it.

    Cujo, Bill, Sausages.

Best I can do right now.

Edit: You can also use all 3 as a full name. As in, "This is my dog, Cujo Bill Sausages,".
