Cool, pretty rare to see an open boater with skill. They definitely have it.

Kayaks still run much bigger drops though and are a hell of a lot more practical.

Between that video and watching White Water Summer this weekend I am really regretting not making plans for a canoe trip this summer. However my type of canoeing doesn't involve rapids.

Dude is good, but that doesn't change the fact that open boating is like the fruitbooting of the whitewater world.

    Ha, good analogy Root.

No matter whater your means, if you're on the river, that's a good thing. I'm just saying that in terms of negotiating whitewater, a kayak is much easier and more adept in 99% of situations.

I think some people around here are afraid to let go of half their paddle. Kind of like free the heel, free the mind.

Yeah, he was good for a canoist. Doesn't change the fact that open canoes are limiting.

And don't try to deny it. It is a fact.

Canoeing is definitely a fun time, whitewater or not. Some of my fondest camping memories involve packing all your belongings in ziploc bags and waterproof sacks, strapping it all in the canoe, and going down the river. Plus, a canoe turned upside down makes a pretty sweet little tarp shelter!

If your going to do alot of surfing, Ill give in to the kayaks, there are just somethings you cannot do in a larger boat, but who is a enough of a fag to surf all the time (it's like those stupid fucks who never leave the park at a resort) but there is nothing out there that can be hit with a kayak and not an OC.

People run Oceana and Bridal Veil in playboats, those drops aint all that.

I'd like to see one of them barges run Big Timber Creek or similar creek beds. Now that would be interesting.

    Are we really doing this?

Why are you so concerned that you need to convince everybody that canoeing is ok? If you like it, do it.

Yeah, it would be interesting, but those clowns would never do a major hike in run anyways. Another strike, especially in MT where a large percentage of good creeks are hike in.

    Esquif's Taureau....

Take a look at Esquif's Taureau...~8'+ Would like to see them shorten up their Zephyr....cause it's a fun boat as is @11. Esquif's material Twintex can imho..take a pounding, thus would love to see an 8'+ Zephyr at some point.

I have nothing to add, other than egging on pro-OCer's because I think they are dumbasses. But then again, so are most republicans.
