Hey Einstein, it's not a nickname it's how his first name is pronounced..(Daisuke) Go back in your hole now.

From the very link you just posted... I will bold the portions that directly contradict your above statement, since you obviously suck at reading.

"...dais-ke matsüzaka. He is nicknamed "The Monster" (怪物 kaibutsu) in Japan and "Dice-K" in the United States by the Boston Globe...
I guess technically you could call it a nickname... but it's actually just a phonetic spelling of his real name.

Now get back to your photography project, damn it

Chris Berman needs to stop giving stupid nicknames to athletes and lose some fucking weight.

Okay, last anti-ESPN rant for the day.

aaron, count the number of championships, add 10 to the sox like you say, learn how to add and multiply by 2, and get back to us.

He TENDS to keep guys he develops? Like Damon, Matsui, Giambi, Abreu, Rodriguez, Pavano, Mussina, Mientkiewicz? He spends money as freely as any other competitive team. Every team has guys they develop playing somewhere, but where the "home grown talent" ends, former/possible MVP mercenaries begin. The A's are somewhat competitive without much free agent buying, and they are hardly competitive when fall comes around (sorry A's fans).

And Dice-K is the guys name. Thats how you say it. Dice. K. Like Aa-ron.

Actually I believe Bobby Valentine (He is like a baseball managing legend in Japan ) coined it first I believe. But I lived in Japan and I don't think they call him DiceK from his name pronounciation.

It seems like the pronunciation should be more like die-sue-kay. We need a Japanese speaker to give us a ruling

I think it's most accurately pronounced "die-yuss-kay," with an umlaut over the U. As in "Die-yuss-kay Matsuzaka had better get his shit together and stop walking the bases full, because my life is stressful enough."

From being stationed there I'm pretty confident that his friends call him die-sue. But my nephew speaks fluent japanese and I just sent him an email. Hopefully he gets back to me soon to clear this major mystery up

Somehow I doubt most Japanese get "Bobby Valentine" completely phonetically correct either.

"the rocket" is a bigger prima donna than Bonds: doesn't travel with the team, shows up when he wants, has his own plane for away starts, and in general is an ass-hole of the highest order. funny too how he takes those first 2 months of the season off to let the roids get free of the system....

this dude gets a major pass from the media and fans...

oh, and it won't help the Yanks that much in the long run...so maybe he wins 10-12 for them...

heh, "Roger we're here for your unannounced doping test." "But I'm retired." "Oh, right. Sorry about that. Never mind."

I can't argue against the Yankees "spend at will" philosophy. However, take a look at the talent that the Yankees HAVE developed that's on their current team.... Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Cano, Wang, Hughes (when he comes back). That's a lot of home-grown talent, I don't care what anyone says. There's not many top teams in baseball that can claim that, and certainly not the Sox. Papelbon, Lester, Pedroia, that's it right?

You know, it's sort of interesting that Barry Bonds gets so much heat for doping, yet Roger doesn't. Yeah, I know, Bonds' association with BALCO is pretty damning. However, everyone points to the physical differences between Bonds in his early year with the Pirates versus now. Take a look at Clemens when he first came up. He wasn't as skinny as Bonds, but you can see the same kind of physical changes. Both are way, way heavier and have huge heads/faces.

Yeah, there's not much doubt in my mind that Roger was hitting the juice (along with many others, of course) but he just never stepped in shit like Bonds did.

Well considering those pictures are twenty years appart. Ya I bet he did. Lets be honest here. Steroids wasn't tested in Baseball for a long time. Still isn't tested effectively. Frankly baseball should have told Roger last Febuary when he started this that he must pass all drug tests before he can talk to any team.

What is funny is how baseball is keeping that steroid story quiet about the equipment guy from the mets that it seems was the biggest steroid dealer ever in baseball.

The guy supposedly gave up all the names to the DA's. Should be really interesting what names come out in that.

And he isn't closing in on Cy Young's wins record or Ryan's K record. It doesn't seem like anyone got real upset about Bonds until it started to be obvious he could break Aaron's HR record.
