I grew up in and played in Section IV and could never figure out the Corning East/West red-headed step child abuse. The summer league teams were always combined, so it was a bit strange that one school would dominate the other.

As for domination, it all starts and ends with Jim Brown. Although I would add Petramala to the clam bake.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

    Where in Section IV?

I could never figure it out either- I was friends with a lot of lax players from both teams too. This year they were pretty even going in, too- East was 10-2, West was 8-2.

Good call, I feel ashamed to have forgotten about Jim Brown.
The educational benefit most receive outweighs those that will be lost in the process

    Endwell, NY.

My dad grew up on W. Pulteney St. in Corning, just a bit down from the Glassworks HQ.

Nice, so I'm assuming you went to M-E? We played them several times in baseball.

And not to take everyone down memory lane....but is that "Christ is the Answer" still up on the hill?

My brother and I would have a competition on who could see it first when we would visit my grandparents. I haven't been back to Corning in about a decade.

No lacrosse is for those who couldn't stay awake while playing baseball. Sure it can get boring at times, but at least there is movement. Baseball is the ultimate yawn.

For the record, I was a water polo player, but I wore board shorts, so no need for speedo jokes. My daughter is currently known as "The Wall"

Yep, its still up there on the hill, in bright orange. I'm surprised there's no graffiti on it. My parents live on the east side of downtown Corning, so I get to see that butt-ugly sign every time we go into town. (when I visit, of course)

Here is a fun clip. A recent game from my old school (Salisbury) playing our cross town rival Washington College... NICE hit here...

My mom lives off of Putney and Reynolds over by Riverside. I do not get back there too often. I was always under the impression that Horseheads was tops in the area. But what do I know, my school was too small to have Lax. (Watkins Glen).

NESCAC Tournament at Tufts this weekend in Medford MA.

Jumbos are ranked 7th nationally and are the 1 seed.

Wesleyan is the 2 seed by virtue of a loss to T-U-F-T-S in conference play. It was their only loss this season though, and they are ranked 3rd nationally.

SSD, remember youse a little Tufts-Wesleyan lax action? (hee-hee)

It would get pretty boring if you cant hit a curveball and youre ass is on the bench all game. I'd switch sports too.

I had a few good friends who played baseball in college. They would wave to me as I was dry heaving from sprints.

Seems to me that was the way to go.

That's incredible. We sucked horribly during my time there.

Are you referring to the game where we showed up wasted, and I drunkenly screamed obscenities at the Wesleyan kid whose parents you knew and who were sitting next to us? No, I don't. Nor I do remember staggering across the field at halftime, stumbling through the bench area, falling off the chain link fence I was trying to climb, finally making it to the top of the fence, snagging my shorts on it, and falling face first onto the sidewalk on the other side- all while in full view of both teams and all the spectators? No. No, I don't.

    Now that's total lacrosse domination.

The NESCAC is a brutal conference for LAX, props to the Jumbos for making it "their" year. I'd love to see them match up against Sals' for the NC

Well, kinda. The Powells were a different era for SU. Had they played during the same timeframe as the Gaits, all four could collectively claim the title. No doubt the Powells were greats, but Gary and Paul DEFINITELY > the Powells.

Sounds like it's for the better that you don't remember that little episode.

Something like this could cause a high amount of embarassment if posted on the interweb.

And then, if I'm not mistaken, passing out in your bed covered in blood from said fall and sleeping through a giant all day party in your own house.

You sir, are a man among men.

Horseheads was good at everything, but rarely the best in the area. Their lax team kinda sucked when I was at East, 92-96.

Or high praise. Good work SSD, way to show heart, courage (climbing the fence), and the brains to get to bed (pass out) in a timely manner.
