Question New Guy looking for advice on a Kayak

Hey guys , i really new to the sport and was wondering about getting a Kayak,

I live in Montana, bozeman and will mostly be riding the galaten, and sometimes Yellowstone (don't know about to many spots yet).

Im like 260+ (all muscle man phff,,,)
    Inseam of 32-34
    size 14 feet.

Was looking for a river runner playboat.

I'm thinking about 2 boats the Fluid Spice(L)
or the jackson fun Or Super fun.

If any of you guys can help me get a clue or have any other advice on learning or if you in the bozeman area if there are any ways of getting in a pool or teaching stuff please let me know.

Thanks guys in advance and be safe on the river.

Well Im not a local to the area but Im sure you will find one on here, all I can say is you might want to start on a used boat, they are just as good but cheaper so you can still put cash to all the gear needed. I would also say try to get a book or DVD with tips and stuff, I have one next to my bed and its like a offseason bible.

glad your interested and you will love kayaking

You should ask him if he likes swimming first.

    Super Fun hands down
You will love it a big boat with alot of volume, that is still playable. Look in to getting a roll tape, and just have fun with it.

Glad your starting to kayak, it is a great sport.

Super EZ would be another good option for you, probably cheaper as well. With your first boat, find something cheap and comfortable, worry about the rest later.

Personally, I don't really like the Funs, they seem cheap to me. The outfitting is hokey and everything flexes quite a bit.

Probably the only boat slower on a wave than an ez is a fun. The funs are too forgiving. I have seen a few people who learned in funs and thought that the were coming along in the sport get spanked when they moved on to different boats.

Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

I think you are thinking of the old fun....
The new fun is one of the better play boats out there, that is still a great river runner. Jay Kincaid is currently 9th at worlds (not over yet so not final rank) and he is using the super fun. This is not worlds on a little feature, this is worlds on bus eater a gigantic 12-14' standing wave. So honestly I dont think you can say it is a bad boat.

Another great boat to look into is the LiquidLogic CR 250. Great playboat and a good riverrunner as well.

The Super EZ is also a good choice. Great river runner and if you learn to surf/play with it you'll have an easy time switching to a true playboat when the time comes. (I learned on a Big EZ and had just started to get basic playmoves when I switched to a playboat. Instantly, most the moves that I was just starting to be able to somewhat do in my EZ were cake in my playboat. Rolling is a different story however...)

At 270 you are right at the top end of the range for a Super EZ, hell at your size I'm thinking you could use a playish creeker just for the size and volume. I learned in a boat that I was right on the top end of the range for, once I got in a higher volume boat it was much easier.
