    Tallac 3/10/2004

What a sweet mountain. 3200 feet of skinning got us to the top in 3 1/2 hours. Gimpy sums it up pretty well - I just wanted to add some pics. There's video too, including a nice wipeout on a steep face. I guess we'll be seeing that sometime this week...

The crew gearing up. Left to right is Gimpy, Buddy the dog, Arty50, Geoff, and Telenator:

We weren't the only ones that had lunch at the top:

The view of the lake from up there is really mindblowing - wish I had done better with a pan, but here's what I got:

And you also get your whistle wetted for nearby tours:

After a few hundred feet of sweet open bowl corn, we scoped out a breathtaking steep line:

And it was a go (geoff's run shown):

Lots of other goodies to ski on the way down, like this rollover:

Sitting on a warm deck on the lake with drinks and new friends afterwards was a good time. The whole day was a sweet intro to the Tahoe backcountry. Looking forward to more...

Yeah, that was a memorable day. lots of fun was had. We all travelled well together, especially for a bunch of strangers.

I'm glad that you managed to photograph the one turn I had all day that didn't end in me sliding along on my ass (or ear)

And you also get your whistle wetted for nearby tours:
Here is a great panoramic photo of the mountains surrounding tallac, with all of the nieghboring peaks labeled. lots of lots of good lines here. you can even see kirkwood and squaw in the picture.

thanks to tahoebackcountry.net for the picture

I'm compelled to defend my reputation.

Only SheRa had Lunch at the top and it was suppose to be "our little secret".

Yup, we dropped into the Cross. Nice.

I made my own skin track a good part of the way up. Builds character and I don't have to look at a track in front of me.

Builds character? Hell, try legs of steel. Your skin track practically went straight up.

That trip was a blast. Many thanks to gimpy, Nater, Geoff, and SheRa for hauling me up there for the first time. Tallac is unreal!

With the exception of the two she's in, SheRa shot these.
