Is there any doubt that the children who were neglected/beaten/abused/abandoned during their upbringing now drive vehicles that demand the attention of everyone else around them? I'd bet money there's a significant positive correlation between these two variables.

Of course these damaged individuals would still be too stupid to recognize their malfunction and just tell the smart people to stop being such a bunch of haterz. Arguing is pretty much pointless.

Seemes like you've already discovered the correlation between childhood abuse and IQ.
Where can I find other smart people such as yourself.
BTW, do you own one of the 'golf carts', or is yours a bit bigger too?

Claim: Participating in one-day boycott of gasoline on May 15 will help lower gasoline prices.
    Status: False.

Interesting bit of info (albeit dated 2004, but still relevant I think) from the Energy Information Administration. Click for entire article

    "The bottom line

Will the world ever physically run out of crude oil? No, but only because it will eventually become very expensive in absence of lower-cost alternatives. When will worldwide production of conventionally reservoired crude oil peak? That will in part depend on the rate of demand growth, which is subject to reduction via both technological advancements in petroleum product usage such as hybrid-powered automobiles and the substitution of new energy source technologies such as hydrogen-fed fuel cells where the hydrogen is obtained, for example, from natural gas, other hydrogen-rich organic compounds, or electrolysis of water. It will also depend in part on the rate at which technological advancement, operating in concert with world oil market economics, accelerates large-scale development of unconventional sources of crude such as tar sands and very heavy oils. Production from some of the Canadian tar sands and Venezuelan heavy oil deposits is already economic and growing.

In any event, the world production peak for conventionally reservoired crude is unlikely to be "right around the corner" as so many other estimators have been predicting. Our analysis shows that it will be closer to the middle of the 21st century than to its beginning. Given the long lead times required for significant mass-market penetration of new energy technologies, this result in no way justifies complacency about both supply-side and demand-side research and development."

Where to start...doyou think it would affect Exxon.Inc if everyone doesn't fill up on Wednesday, then fills up on Thursday instead?

Scrutinize, think, smoke crack, then post.

I wonder what will happen when we "run out of gas." Apparently we won't, because it will be too expensive for anyone to afford it anymore a few years before it actually happens. But how will people adapt?

I'm very curious how this social evolution will occur and what types of screaming, yelling, tantrum throwing will be involved. Will people be very shocked? Or will people start taking notice gradually (believe me, they don't notice now) Will our children really start paying attention and perhaps even begin "doing something" about it?

I sure hope there is an afterlife, because I want to know how this pans out.

There is a theory that the earth is a giant petroleum manufacturing machine. Premis is at the deepest depths of the ocean algae and organic materials are converted to petroleum via abiogenics.

A little "tail" wagging here but they just had a political discussion on CNBC and the concept of new refineries being built on on former military bases is real. To me it makes perfect sense in that there can be a partnership between gov't and industry developing additional energy capacity.

Excuse me for not reading the whole thread but I live in a little place called SF and its getting to the point where its tough to find gas under $4/gallon. Just thought I'd share. I don't even fill up my whole tank anymore since most gas stations have a $ limit per purchase.

If you want to really make an impact, try not driving as much.

    Nope, too inconvenient.

May 15th should be a good day to buy gas, since there won't be any lines.
Change is good. You go first.

Take the cable car. Like in the adverts for Rice-a-Roni. Which comes from Chicago. The Rice-a-Roni that is, not the adverts

Another tip. Don't pull into a gas station behind a Suburban (40 gal) towing a boat (60 gal). The occupants aren't going to be very focussed on your distress at the impending wait time. They've got their own problems.

Yet another tip. Rent a small car, a very very small car, on any upcoming European trips.

why do people bitch about paying $3/ gallon of gas, but happily buy a liter of water for $3? obviously we dont have to buy water like that, but many people do regularly.
