    any foosball playing mags?

we have a sweet tornado table at work and have daily battles. my offense is pretty good and can usually get my push and pull shots in from anywhere on the table, as well as good bankshots when im playing on defense, but I can't defend a push/pull shot for shit when a good opposing player has it on his 3man rod. i get abused! any tips from hardcores would be welcome

You need "The Complete Book of Foosball". Out of print now, but it will teach you what you need to know.

I think you can find certain chapters online, but if you want to buy the book you can find it on Amazon among other places.

I used to be damn good, but lost my touch somewhere after college. Now a foos table is on the (long) shortlist of "Shit I want real bad."

BTW, three-goalie tables are for retards and old ladies.

You really need to drop acid to reach your full foosball potential.

I boiled my thermometer, and sure enough, this spot, which purported to be two thousand feet higher than the locality of the hotel, turned out to be nine thousand feet LOWER. Thus the fact was clearly demonstrated that, ABOVE A CERTAIN POINT, THE HIGHER A POINT SEEMS TO BE, THE LOWER IT ACTUALLY IS. Our ascent itself was a great achievement, but this contribution to science was an inconceivably greater matter.

Good call; Mrs. D is in exams and the more I stay out of her way the better...for both of us.

Anticipation and staggering your two rear men, making sure to angle each "guy" towards the other, taking away every advantage possible. I have played more foos than I care to admit. One thing I have learned throughout the years...a good offense will always beat a good defense.

Bank shots are one thing to defend against, but this is something totally different.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPv0xOrRCr0 (only 11 seconds and SFW).

we also have a table at work and play a couple games every day.
right now we have a piece of crap sportcraft table that is on it's last legs and just waiting for an office space style beat down. but a new tornado is on it's way here

so yeah, the only thing you can do is stagger your goalie and defenders and get to know your opponent. what they do, if they tend to push or pull, which shot they are more accurate with, and take those shots away. sometimes also you can bait them to take a shot, leave an opening, and move to block the shot just as they take it.

Ahh.. the rainbow shot. Nice video of it!

Used to play a lot, and the rumor is that the guy we used to play against in college went on to be national champion. I might have been good at one time... now, well, not so much.

Watch the angles on the defense, like the previous people said. Defending against a good three man is rough, but possible. Watch the ball, not the men, although a quick glance at the wrist angle at the proper moment can tell you whether it's a push that's coming your way.

You aren't letting people shoot from the 5 man right? Cause that is SO lame.

well im still kinda a newb compared to the other guys im playing with. ive been playing pretty much daily at work (4 game sets unless there is a tiebreaker) for about 6months, and I get totally owned on the corners of the goal still. altho great defensive players are far fewer than great offensive players. there is only one dude at work that has an ironman defense. The other thing I have trouble with is covering the long banks shots from the opposing defenseman. but thats also partly the responsibility of my offensive teamate i guess.

I found an epic foos site tho that breaks down defending every kind of shot, not to mention it breaks down offensive play too. But just like with trying to improve skiing technique, when you start trying to think too much, it can sometimes hurt you more than help http://dasfoosmaster.com/
