    chad's gap, grizzly gulch

I need to express my disapointment in the crew of dudes that sessioned chads gap. After they were finished, they not only tore the booter down, but they littered the landing with rocks and dirt. I dont care how pro you are or how large your travel budget is. those guys are not even from here and they completely disrespected little cottonwood locals through their actions. I know several of kids that were ready to test their skills on chad's, but didnt get to do so because these pompous superpros decided to shit on everyone. job well done. go back to europe or jackson or wherever it is that you call home. dont come back to alta.

A respectable perspective. People holding others back is lame. Build each other up, don't try to hold everybody else back. Operating from a place of insecurity.

Pretty common practice among the bigger names/film-crews, I believe.

    Still, pretty fucked up.

I can see knocking down the booter - possibly a liability issue. But no need to litter the landing.

Wouldn't littering the landing possibly be a liability issue? Besides being a COMPLETE asshole move.

i dont see why it would be - no one "owns" the booter on a bc jump like chads.. someone builds it and leaves.. how are they liable for anything that happens? except morally to themselves of course.. but still.. someone goes all the way out there and hits a 100+ ? foot gap - and hurts themselves. if you cant hang or clean up the pieces, you shouldnt be hitting it at all..

I dont agree with what they did...but I can understand why a shady company would not want others to get similar/same shots off of their work.

I don't know for certain, but wasn't the booter already there before these guys came to session it??? Sage and those guys sessioned it about a month or so ago. Wouldnt these guys just be working off the same gap that they built or was already there??

Yup, and it was built well enough for 2-3 people to clear it. I saw the tracks myself.

These dicks destroyed a gap that they didn't even build? I hope the film burns.

They build it one day, and hit it the next...right? Trash it that night. Just have some maggots keep a watch on the area.

trashing the landing is lame, but destroying the booter isnt. Everytime my crew is out, and we film something big, we destroy the kicker afterwards, no need for someone that is in experienced to hurt them selves. case in point, a kid was heli vaced from Baker 2 weeks ago attempting homerun gap, a very large cat track gap, that we have shot numerous times, but it has a very sketchy in run / take off and if it isnt built and executed perfectly, can prove fatal. leaving a kicker up like this or htat of chad's gap would be stupid, it would be too tempting for a young grom that doenst know there limits to hit, and possibly hurt them selves. the crew at chad's gap did the right thing by destroying the take off, but it is wrong to ruin the landing. if the alta locals are good egnough to hit the gap, hten they should have no problem building the take off when hteconditions are right.

Grant, are you sure you guys don't destroy the kicker to keep other people from benefitting from your efforts to build it?

    Really sure?

Also, in this case, the crew that destroyed the kicker, didn't build it. It was built before they got there. It's a classic kicker that usually gets built once and just touched up any time somebody goes up there to session it. It's also a fucking monster that takes a big crew a long time to build right.

I say, if someone makes the decision to hit a kicker I've built, they are on their own. If they get worked, it was their decision.

Yes I am really shure, if we are finishing up and another crew of competent riders wants to hit it, we let em have at it, it is ussally a crew of snowboarders. But if it aint a copmetent crew we destroy hte kicker, that way we dont have to worry about the liability, and fealing bad if some idiot gets hurt on what we built.

The sun melted the landing, making it into mud and rocks. I was standing on it yesterday. I saw pipes and stuff in the mud, probably from mining days. There was no evidence of intentional fucking up the landing as far as I could see.

Pyramid Gap is built up massive, as is 4 other good jumps in Grizzly, probably from the same crew. These 4 weren't torn down as of yet.
