We decided to start from scratch and design a large travel bike that had more characteristics of our slopestyle bike the BottleRocket.
    oh fuck me.

looks like i am NOT saving up for a gran mal any more.

edit: or buying a gran mal when its crazy cheap...

Is the Blindside built in Boner City? Because it sure looks like it.

No, not Boner City. It is going to be built in their underground lair at Pleasure Town. That thing is so fucking sick. My Dirtbag isn't as cool as it was 2 minutes ago

Oooo...that is slick butter...less weight, shorter wheelbase, lower BB, wheel options, floating brake. Smoov for sure.

I didn't see any pricing or time estimations?

This thing looks rad. Reminds me of the Highline, which is a good thing.

    Marsh - you need one.

Denver, CO Associated Press - An amplified sound, that could only be described as cloth being ripped and zippers being broken, was heard near Denver early Thursday morning. Experts attribute it to the multiple boners being popped by the local Transition fanclub in response to release of their new FR/DH bike, the Blindside. No injuries have been reported.

Why does Transition put FD mounts on DH bikes?

I tend to agree with some folks regarding the high shock placement. I'll be interested to see some finalized geo numbers.

Looks like a nice frame. Similar design to other higher end single pivot style suspensions that I looked at when I bought my bike. Based on that, I'm not sure what the fuss is about? Something special about this bike that I'm missing?

    Digging the floater.
I'd love to see Transition make a full on, closed course, DH race frame. Maybe thats what the der. post-free version will be closer too.
I wonder what the HA is?

overheard by Fly on the Wall at Transition Bikes:

"Hey the Grand Mal is overweight and not exactly competitive as a DH racer. Maybe we would be smart to simply copy Dave Turner's Highline. Yeah, that's the ticket!"

After looking at their page, it looks like the Transition guys were down here for some sort of indoor dirt jumping comp...and I didn't know about it!

That Blindside looks nice, sort of like the big brother to the Bottle Rocket.

Yeah it kinda looks like a Highline, but it's got more travel, and a floating rear brake. The highline is a freeride bike, not a DH bike. This looks more like a DH bike w/ an optional FD. Sick. Bags - re: your point about DH + FD, I just want the option to pedal up if needed. Even when I lived 30 minutes from lift-served riding I just couldn't get into it. Love shuttle runs, plus 1-2 days a season at the resort, but DV just never quite got me that stoked. I think the FD is a great idea, and even better that they may offer two versions, one with and one without.

    anyone pickup on this?

    Dirtbag - DB
    Bottle Rocket - BR
    Gran Mal - GM
    and now
    Blindside - BS

its a good thing that bike looks and probably rides sweet

Exactly, that's why you bought a freeride bike.
