    Plea for Maggot Benevolance

I'm trying to put together a care package for a 12 y/o kid with somekinda sarcoma cancer stuff (sorry but I can't find where I had those details written down) whose sister posts on a regional skiing messageboard, SkiNC.com .

Anyhow, this kid has skiied a few times and loves it although he wants to convert to snowboarding but really he is living through what we post on our messageboard. He is constantly in and out of the hospital and his sister is afraid (with good reason) that he is going to die. I've talked to the parents and as much as possible verified that his cause is legit.

Here are a couple of links to applicable threads over on SkiNC:
    http://www.skinc.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=8913
    http://www.skinc.com/messageboard/vi...t=9285&start=0

I'm not asking for any cash, but if people here have contacts or could donate some smallish schwag, DVD's, autographed posters/pictures (from pro riders), stickers, beanies, hats, etc. anything that would help him pass the time in the hospital and bring a smile to his face he would appreciate it.

PM or e-mail (prefer e-mail) me at teledaveATgmailDOTcom for shipping info or with any questions. I want to get a package shipped to him within a week because I just have a bad feeling about things.

    Thanks for your help.

By the way, his sister is fifteen.

I have been a part of the conversation on SkiNC and this kid's story will absolutely break your heart. If anyone has any connections, we would appreciate it greatly.

Heart breaking indeed. I should have some stuff at home I can send his way. Let me see what I can dig up when I get home this evening.

    Hang in there Don Alan!

Kids with cancer is the worst thing in the world. I give all my charity money to St. Jude's Hospital for children with cancer. Most meaningful cause in the world for me.

    You might consider it.

+1 on St. Judes. Cancer is bad no matter who has it but when it is a child with so much life to live is just bad. It seems so unfair.

bumping for a VERY good cause. I would love to donate for this worthy cause, all i have though are a few stickers from resorts and manufacturers and a few posters of areas. I know this is very minimal, but if you want it, the stuff is yours. just let me know.

++++vibes going out to Don and his family.

I have an extra copy of Ski Movie 2 that I could send. It's definitely not R rated , but it's not PG either. Is that ok?

To answer as quickly as possible:

dk_alaskan,Stickers and posters are great, shmerman, I've already got Ski Movies 1-3 in the box for him, TJ I think boots would be overkill right now-he won't be skiing any until next season at the earliest, Iceman, I don't even know what kin d of stuff my own kids like, T-shirts, hats, gloves, beanies, smallish stuff with cool kid logos on them.

I am slammed at work today. I'm collecting everything then going to ship to him, I'm shooting to ship out on Friday.

Thanks for everyone that has posted and those that have responded with feeling the need to post about it.

I agree with TJ, if he can get them for free, it may help Dan to continue to fight the cancer because he has a new motivation to not give up. Gives him a new goal for next year and will give the fam another reminder there are SO many others out there pulling for there son's recovery
