April Powder Day HDV Vid 4-19-07

Well, we lucked out this day and found 12-16" of new snow that had fallen over the last 24 hours. Temps were fairly cool, winds were light, the snowpack was stable, and the heliskiers are done for the season. We found this place empty when we showed up, then proceeded to lap our run by ourselves, while filming others and our group.

    Skiers:
    Long Duck Dong (Orange Jacket-tele)
    Stoysluttie1 (Red Jacket-tele)
    Powstash (Green Jacket-AT)
    Grizzle6 (Red Jacket-Green Hat-AT)
Gramps (sluff chasing him in distant shot-AT)
    Dave (following Gramps line-tele)
Unknown Skier (in nice couloir, by self-AT)
Foothill Freak (not pictured-he left early)
Me-not in the vid, I suck.

I don't have time today to encode a QT or lower rez version, so this will have to do. This is mid-range WMV HDV, so if your computer isn't moderately fast, it won't play smooth. Check back tomorrow for a QT version that will be a smaller file size, etc.

Looks like a really sweet day.

One of these days, I'll get to ski with Powstash. I just hope to miss the roadside disrobings.

    Fuck too late.

    Stunning.

Love the out of focus shot of climber in orange through the pine needles. So atmospheric.

    What's the music?

Trackhead - you've outdone yourself. That truely captured how sick it really was. Nice work!

just watched it again. Wanted to point out that the last six scenes were all on the last run when Stoy (in red on Tele) and LDD (in orange on Tele) ALMOST bailed rather than take this run. I remember making the decision for one more lap and telling them they'd be crazy not to when I dropped in first. (green jacket).

Then Stoy dropped in and let out a whoop! and I was stoked for him.

Then Trackhead shouted down that LDD would be joining us. The vibe was so phenominal when at the end of the top portion of the run those guys joined me down below. Wish I had a vid camera to film them on arrival, TH included. Palpable in the air the stoke was.

I couldn't imagine watching that vid without you two for that last run! Especially cool to watch Stoy's excitement at the bottom of the last scene since I was still a ways above at that point. Great stoke!
