Is is a model that is only offered by one of the providers?
They looks nice...but Windows Mobile :*
What is wrong with Windows mobile?
data phone JONG here...got any pertinent links?
I have the Dash, which is made by HTC.
There's boatloads of info about these phones out there. For example: http://www.htcwiki.com/
That's pretty damn up to date.
Howard Forums should have a ton of info as well.
Windows Mobile is a pain in the ass and I'm not sure I'd recommend it for someone who lives and dies by their PDA phone, but for casual users like myself it seems to do ok.
Hmmm...It is a proprietary model for Edge wireless.
Are there any alternatives to Windows Mobile, and why is it a PITA in a phone app?
Any issues with this platform in South America and Europe?
It's a PITA more for general reasons than anything. My Dash crashes occasionally, maybe twice a month. Nothing huge, no data loss, just annoying. It can be slow to react occasionally (much like desktop Windows) and it just doesn't behave as well as a Treo. I don't use mine for anything except phone calls, some texting, and playing games on the shitter to pass the work day, so I really have little to complain about.
I believe the Dash is quad band GSM and if the model you're looking at is also quad band it should work in Europe. Not sure about SA.
The iPhone is coming. Palm just announced that they're taking the Treo in a linux direction to replace the PalmOS. There are alternatives, but...
If you're a Windows user to begin with, Windows Mobile is probably cool. You can sync shit easily I imagine.
What kind of deal are you getting on this thing? No deals to be had on Treo 700's?
I'm getting it for $200, with a huge data minutes bonus plan.
I have the T-Mobile MDA Vario also known as the HTC Wizard... One of the better built pocket pc phones I have ever worked with... The only draw back is I wish it were just a tad bit smaller.. If you aren't going to be using much of the pocket pc functionality the sda is a good option for something a little bit smaller... My friend has gotten 12 of them for his company now and has had few problems as well... PM me if you have any specific questions..One reason why you may be having difficulty finding info is that until recently HTC has been selling there products under other branded names such as Ijam and specific models for both t mobile and cingular...
W - I use the VX6700 which I think is made by HTC. Windows crashes sometimes and has other issues but so does every PDA OS. Go to phonescoop.com and read up on the phone you are looking at. Read reviews and compare to others options. At the end of the day I don't think any of them are perfect so you have to find the one that will do what you want it to do most of the time.
Looks like the T4300 might also be the P4300 or the Wizard.

Now I have to figure out how to use it!
It is the Wizard...sweet freakin' phone.
