One definite casualty right now, with 7-8 more being reported by the AP... this isn't good.

My cousin is a freshman there, I'm hoping for the best.

Not going to campus until later today was def a good decision...I've got friends on campus right now, they dont know much, actually getting most of their info from me because I can watch the news and have friends listening to radio scanner.

Have a friend in Norris, building where shootings happened, he heard the shots and immediately locked his door (reporting to us via listserv). He was scared as shit earlier, but it sounds like the situation is under control with the shooter apprehended.

Just talked to my grandma, and my cousin's fine... he was in class when it all happened. I guess he walked out from class and saw some of it going down, with the cops in their gear running around- and he turned around and went right back inside.

Great news Steve. So far I've checked in with all of my friends and everyone I know is ok...

its unbelievable that this is the second shooting incident of the academic year. I will be interested to hear if this is a student or a random. This is all happening on top of two bomb threats in the past week, which involved the evacuation of multiple buildings.

The series of incidences were very strange - first a shooting on the 4th floor of a dorm early this morning, the police got it under control and students were allowed to freely move around campus, then another shooting a few hours later completely across campus.

this is not good. we are watching trying to get in touch with some friends that go to school there. Got an email from our friend that is a vet student on lockdown on campus. But no word yet from our other two friends, one of which is a engineering student and his wife who is also a student. seems like 2 seperate shootings, one in the dorm, the other more serious at Norris Hall. Shit, as many as 17 people shot!!!

This has certainly been an unusual year down there. Hopefully some of the wild reports of 8+ casualities are being over exaggerated.

The news conference just reported at least 20 fatalities and the shooter is dead.

Apparently fox news is the only one covering this well. I'm in BC, so I'm getting my info from a friend glued to a tv and talking to a guy we went to highschool with at Virginia Tech, but it seems like the police evacuated his dorm.
