    Thievery

Had my precious Gotamas jacked today at the Whistler roundhouse during lunch time. If anybody in the PNW region sees my exact setup on craiglist or something please send the link so I can look into it. The guy's face has been caught on camera so even though they're probably long gone I figure it's worth a try. Theyre 05/06 Gotamas (all black topsheet, white bases) in a 176cm, flat-mounted with black/grey Look PX12 bindings. I mention the flat mount because this binding model normally comes with a riser plate and you need to either grind down the existing screws or find shorter screws from specific Look/Rossi models to mount flat w/o the plate. This exact ski/binding combo wouldn't be too common... so any help is appreciated

That sux! I often wondered if I'm being too paranoid when I lock up my skis, esp when I look at the racks full of unlocked skis. There's been a few mags hit by car thieves up at whistler, so I guess it's not a big surprise.

    Hope they catch the thief.

holy fuck, I've actually never heard of anyone getting skis or boards stolen at the roundhouse, although I have myself gotten a backpack full of stuff stolen there too.
Fucking assholes, I'll be on the lookout.
By the way, if my bases were white I'd have exactly the same setup as you, so don't jump on me if you happen to see something that looks like your skis.

trying to paint your bases black and pull a fast one on me eh frenchbastard? theft rate isnt usually high up on the mountains but i wouldnt be surprised if they increase sharply during the world ski/board festival, there's lots of people from out of town. so really they could be anywhere

phill i cant post the guy's face because i dont have the information, it's in the hands of w/b security and the RCMP. my skis were in plain view of the security cameras so they have evidence of me dropping off the skis and this other dude grabbing them. however it's still under investigation and there's no guarantee that they'll catch him.

That really sucks. Good luck getting the guy. Hopefully something fortunate will come your way because that is a downer.

The problem with the Roundhouse is you can just get on the gondola with some "new" skis and ride down. I always lock up skis I care about.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

Just split them up for god's sake. No thief is gonna go looking around for the other ski.

    We've been over this.

Sorry you got jacked though, dude.

Ice, you've never been to Hunter. Ski or Skiing ran an article about the place maybe 12 years ago, following Joey and Tony from LI up to there for a day, and they had half of their skis stolen that day in front of the writer. They split their skis, but made two mismatched pairs about 100 feet apart. One got swiped. But they caught the little piece of trash who did it the same day.

Well I've been skiing a long time and I always split them up and I've never had a problem except for the early-onset Alzheimers when I can't remember where I stuck the other ski. Which has happened more than a few times.
