I TOLD YOU SO. This is the second week of no call no show. This guy looks to have burned us all. i got his cell phone and he will not call me back. I just want my money back so i can go buy my own materials. I know a few other people in the class that want the same . I think it might be time to contact the college and tell them whats up. I paid $230 to that guy and still have NO materials and no help.
I tried to be a supporter but this is just over the line now.

If anyone finds out some info let me know. I think if we can barrow the vacuum table and get some materials then we are back in action.

I am trying to build my own table but i don't know how strong of a pump i need. I found one that pulls 15 microns but think thats not enough.

ProfSki showed up at PM Gear with some fiberglass yesterday.
If he has the base, resin, plastic, and vacuum bags, you guys should be good to go, Joe.

Can't you find out all you need to build skis from the skibuilders.com site? Seriously... the guys on that forum are more than friendly with advice and how-tos and I found the details / specs really accurate. A little trial and error but that's half the fun... you're building your own skis! I'd rather put my money towards a press and materials and learn through that site.

Wasn't the class being conducted thru the community college? Call the registrar, out his ass, and get your money refunded.

YA i know, but i signed up hoping for some advise from a so called ex-pro ski builder. Since this is my first rodeo I thought some help from an accredited school would be something fun and informative once a week. He got me all hyped up and sounded willing to help with a revolutionary type of ski construction. He said he could deliver the materials we needed and help with the construction. Then this guy fell off the planet, Splat has been stepping up and trying to save the situation. However bob just seems to flaky.

If Splat is offering help of any sort, take him up on it!!! Learn from the master... someone who is building innovative skis today that people actually are waiting in line for. Shit, If I lived nearby I'd offer to sweep the floors or get coffee for the crew for free just to be able to observe and see what everyone does. Probably a huge learning experience, and fun.

I really hope garage ski building takes off and I think the way to do it is to form cooperatives. 10 guys should get together, pool funds and build as good a press as they can, learn from each others mistakes, etc. To do it yourself it's a total PITA to put all this tooling together and then the damn press is used at most like one day a month. Still, it's a great hobby.

pat has been awesome through the whole process. I say that Pat should take over and start teaching the ski building class next semester. He filled in when Bob had a cold and when he was in Texas supposedly etc. He has his doors open for the whole class at all times. He would be the first ski builder entrepeneur/ski building professor in the nation.

I nominate Splat for President! pat, i encourage you to change your name from Splat to......ProfessorSplat.

He sent out an email today; are you on the distribution list? I can forward it to you if you want.
Do you by chance happen to own a large, yellowish, very flat cat?
