Question Cycle cross JONG: Scott bikes?

So I'm looking to buy a new bike this year, and my fave ski shop is finally stocking bikes. They are heavy into the Scott bikes, which I know are pretty popular in Europe.

I was looking at the Scott Cyclocross Comp or Cyclocross Team. The tech at the shop seemed to really like the Cyclocrosses. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with either one of these, what the primary differences are, etc. Is the difference worth the couple hundred bucks in price?

I'm also open to suggestions for another cycle cross from either Scott, Bianchi, Cannondale or Redline (if they do one). The other bike store in my area I have sworn a blood vendetta against and will not shop there.

I'm a bike newbie, so I know little to nothing about them. All I know is that a cycle cross is more of what I want to get into: I don't ride any trails (or very little) so a mountain bike isn't appropriate. I don't race, 'cause I'm fat, so no need for a killer road bike setup. Mostly I stick to roads, paved trails, and some gravel trails in the country.

And thanks in advance for all helpful replies. Only moderate thanks-in-advances for not-so-helpful replies.

It is worth the upgrade. As a general rule with road stuff, stay away from anything that has Tiagra on it. 105 is as low as you wanna go. This is especially important on a CX bike that will be seeing some dirt and gravel.

Redlines are good too, very popular and a great price. The Bianchi CX bikes always look to me. I tend to shy away from cdale products.

Of course, if you can find a Felt F1X...that would be the coolest.

If you're going to put less than 50 miles per week, on it then Tiagra could work for you. But resale value will be more shyte. That's why I'd go 105. You'll immediately attract a lot more buyers.

In the grand scheme, I think $200-300 Ok to hit up 105 and other upgrades. Won't even get you half a night of hookrs & blo.
