    Here are a few possibilities:

Creative Labs Nomad IIc - 64MB MP3 Player
-Issues with it: earphones are only average.

    Sonic Blue Rio S30S 64MB MP3 Player
-Issues with it: Short battery life, FM tuner blows

    Sonic Blue Rio S10 64MB MP3 Player
-Issues with it: menu system sucks

Creative Labs Nomad IIc - 128MB MP3 Player
-Issues with it: no fast forward (you can only skip)

    Irock 530 MP3 Player
-Issues with it: No backlight on the very small LCD display

    Panasonic SV-SD50 MP3 Player
    -Issues with it: no backlight.

Of all these choices, I'd probably go with the Panasonic. Great battery life, good sound, can be had for around $80.

It only holds 64, but I believe it's upgradable to 128.

If you've got the bucks, iPod is the way to go. Those puppies go up to like 30 gigs.

if you're only listening to it for an hour or so at a time, flash memory players are great.... but if you're gonna be doing it for...say...3-4+ hours (skiing) they suck.

seriously....cd mp3 and minidisc players can be had for pretty close to the same $$$ as flash players. you'll be a lot happier w/ a longer playlist.

edit: don't ever let the factory included earphones influence your purchase -- they're all gonna blow.
