i pulled a 720 with bonk on the road last week after several agro passes and then stopped to inspect the damage to my dark toyota with a topper. no "tree save" though. pretty drunk, don't remember what day it was. my only "tree save" story is from two years ago..

That is some goooood shit everybody My spring break was a week too soon. But I couldn't figure out why, after what seemed like many months of NO SNOW, why now. And it all becomes suddenly clear. The Maggots have gathered and brought the snow storms to them! The Force is strong with this group.

thanks to everyone who was a part of making this past weekend happen. i can't remember laughing so hard for so long so many times in a four day period

although it went down a few days before the summit, here's a before and after of a line I had long been coveting...Palmyra...

we started things off on wednesday night with the man, the myth, the legend, 27 year Breck local Mr Pete Drummond getting after some sick deck hucking...
    clicking in...

    the approach...

    3,2,1...dropping...

    and, yes, he stuck it...

only a few silverton pics, but it looks like some other folks have that angle covered...oh yeah, I was too busy hiking after our guide, who set a swift pace all day long. Borasa would have eaten it up

    marshall coming on up...

    cold_smoke doing the same...

the way out to alta lakes...

the ophir needles looking mighty nice...

the ghost town of alta lakes...

i love waking up in this place...

ok, that is the best looking experience I have seen on TGR....

Marshal, your leopard slippers are dead sexy....

I am so jealous of the turns though, and I am DEAD set on next year being my year for getting the backcountry goods...

congrats to all, and if I may ask, how do you get to rent out the observatory? or is that even the building you stayed in? I am just all mind-scrambled with glee looking at the pics, so excuse my jong-ness on the rental...lol

jim russell is the owner/builder and he is the man with the plan if you want to rent it out. the place is absolutely stunning in the summer, as well.

    PT,
my bad, try www.altalakes.com and it will work. i am still trying to pull myself out of a week long bender that definitely diminished my mental capacities...

as for the summer - there are some epic 4,500 - 5,000 ft buttery smooth shuttleable singletrack descents pretty much right out the front door....

considering snow melt and whatnot, later in the summer would be better. we should wait and see when silverton mtn decides to run their chair and book it around then. then we could hit up alta lakes, silverton, naturita, maybe ups/lps/porcy, and the ribbon and big marbles in GJ.

whenever its on, tentatively count me in. that said, you might want to get on it relatively soon because they do a grip of weddings and whatnot up there in the summer. jim is also a pretty crazy dude and would most likely respond better to me (as opposed to someone he does not personally know, like i said he's weird, but in the coolest of ways) if I contacted him about heading up there in the summer, so if you want to do it, feel free to check out the website and let me know when you want to go and i would be happy to call him directly. if you email the email addy on the site, it might not get read for the next two months...

    let's git it

nice...yeah, I emailed the site. I will let you know for sure...this sounds like it could be a great two or three day trip, for sure. In fact, since you know him, I would also like to check out the place for a possible site of for a wedding, as my fiance looked at the TR and freaked out, saying "we could get married there!"....immediately, I thought "what a great excuse to go check it out with my BIKE this summer...hahah"

Let's wait and see about Silverton, that sounds good...PM me if you have any other ideas, etc....

    Thanks! Talk to you soon!

Not positive, but I think Jen at S-ton was sayin somethin like 3 weeks late July-ish. Check with her cuz it's a short window. The season is lightning dependant...

Way to get it reidhresko that is a beautiful peak! Droool....Got one on my plate that has been calling for a long time too Thanks again for such a good time.

Zappa, it was really nice to meet you (again, I think, in pretty much a fog) and Buster. I love this pic! We need to hook up for some slednecking before the snow is gone.

Yeah, we might oughta head up Winfield way and beyond...

^^^I really dig that Red area - def a favorite of mine. Was a lil wierd skinnin up to that line - a friend of a friend was killed in a slide there where we uptracked and the sun was warmin things up in a hurry on it. But hey, with lines like that only a quarter mile from the road... who can pass it, right?

Here are some more Alta Lakes Pics from my POV. Since the debauchery was already covered in depth I'll keep it clean

    Another early start...

Sled ride in, a sign of what was to come!

Some more shots of the fine craftsmanship.

First day, It's f*ing dumping some serious fluff....
Dave came all the way from jay peak to see what spring corn is all about here in Colorado
    There he is...

There he goes...and that smoke was not from all that mexican food!

    A little VT air

    Coming back to the Observatory...

Day 2: Some serious skin track stoke

    and some more...

Glad the skin was over I rounded the top to see I wasn't quite there yet...let the bootpack begin!

    But well worth the effort!

One more time around to nail Puma Chute. Marshal and cold_smoke lay some curved elevens while powder sluts reidhresko and Dave from Jay worked the pow.....THE DAMAGE

What a killer time....The crew getting ready to head out...

Thanks again to reidhresko and all the people who made it for Silverton and the rest of the trip. A trip of a lifetime that will have to be re-created in the future!
