    Arrow Virus Alert

This just in from my IT Department (poss. old new but letting you know anyway):

    Virus Alert

Recently, a new worm has been making the rounds in computers. This worm is somewhat sneakier and therefore worth an alert. The virus in question is called Bagle.J, and it appears to be an alert from your ISP about your e-mail account. The from address is usually something like support@.com, so if you received a copy in your mailbox it would appear to be from support@[insert your office name here].com or maybe management@@[insert your office name here].com. If you have an AOL account, Bagle.J messages sent to your AOL address might appear to be from support-at-aol dot com.

The attachment that contains the actual virus is also sneaky in that it is often a password protected zip file. Password protecting the file does two things for the virus. First, by being password protected, it acquires a certain aura of security and therefore safety, making people less nervous about opening it. Second, the password protection makes it difficult for anti-virus software to open the zip file, and analyze the contents.

I think this is a little old, but worth posting. This is the trickiest one yet, since it masquerades as a seemingly legit email from your own company/domain.
